Good Indie / Rock bands

Post May 16th, 2004, 6:43 pm

Hey,

Anyone know of any great up and coming indie / rock bands? I really need some new music to listen to!

I'd suggest Franz Ferdinand and Snow Patrol anyone looking for something British and quite new.

Oh man Musik, you're my saviour! I saw a band a few weeks ago support Jetplane Landing (Another hot metal band btw) and the support band was really good...I think they were called Mclusky, that sounds really right.

Another up and coming band are called Stapleton, website http://www.stapleton.tk if you have time you should try and get their song 'Chez Chef', its a class bit of Indie.

Ah sounds like its not your day / night. I've had trouble getting Mclusky stuff too, but by the looks of things they just released a new album like yesterday? I don't know, thats what amazon said neway!

Franz Ferdinand are absolutely massive in the U.K, the song to get first (if you can) is 'Take me out', its an amazing song.

Yup they did just release another album, their other one was great, alternative and trippy. I've heard of Franz Ferdinand im sure. I listen to RRR FM ( http://www.rrr.org.au ) they play kick ass alternative music that the commercial radio stations are too straight to play, so thats how I got my great taste in music ;) What other music do you like besides indie?

I'll check out that station when i get the chance!

I like some punk in small doses, like Green Day, Taking Back Sunday & Less than jake. (Ska technically) *whos_wee_dug glances at his CD rack* I like alot of grunge and some metal. So...soundgarden, pearl jam, ratm to name but a few. Metal, I like System of a Down, Jetplane Landing & Lost Prophets mainly but there are so many others i could name.

If you like this kind of stuff, newish acts I'd suggest are:

- Jetplane Landing (Brave Gravity is the single)
- Lost Prophets (Burn Burn, Make a Move & Last Train Home are there current singles)
- Biffy Clyro (Great guitaring and lyrics + their Scottish  )
- Brand New (Metal / Punk, pretty good, Sis Transit Glora is the current single)

Merlyn, I'll try and get some of 'The Fire Theft's stuff along with 'Death Cab for Cuite'

Thanks guys, you should check out my suggestions if you can,

That sounds like a really kool station. I have relitives in Oz and the US and it took that side of the world almost 2 years to discover them since the UK did. (obviously because they are UK bands)

I was hoping that I might come up with 1 you haven't heard yet but no joy! Hmmm 'Idlewild' are amazing, i'm too tired to think of anymore right now!
