If you like gothika then try "The Ring", it;s a little bit old, but really good, and if you like to take your girlfriend to cinema then go and see "Love actually"

movies I have seen recently that were pretty good
butterfly effect
fahrenheit 9/11
black tar heroin (documentary)
the cooler

I thought love actually was really good, I never heard of it until my dad got it on DVD, then I watched it and it was pretty good.
There was a movie we got by accident that was pretty good that I haven't heard of before we accidentally got it, it had some good actors in it (biggs, and allen, and some cameos) it wass called Anything Else, I believe.

I just saw 'I, robot' and I thought it was well done. The book is better and different, but isn't that always the case?

But I thought the production value was A+

I thought King Arthur was absolute rubbish, but thats me.
I've seen many many Many MANY movies just like it. So to me it was very predictable.
And Kiera Knightley was so "try-hard" in her acting, I was cringing for much of it.
But, again, thats me. And I am biased coz i'm a chick ;)

The Ring: Didn't see it recently, but it freaked me out enough that I won't watch the last half hour of it ever again :)

Spiderman 2: Possibly the best movie I have ever seen, IMHO. I've seen it 4 times and each time I see it I find a new level to the movie that I didn't notice before.

AVP: Great movie. I know, a lot of people will disagree with me, but it had a decent story line that didn't feel "thrown together" like Jason vs Freddy, and it had a lot of wholesome mindless extraterrestrial carnage (as well as a lot of human carnage). One thing I didn't quite get was the Predator body count. Seems like there were more predators killed then were sent down. And without trying to spoil it for those that haven't seen it yet: Yes I know the facehugger one doesn't die immediately.

Donnie Darko: I know this movie has become a cliche for angst-ridden youth, but it's still a great movie. VERY intellectual.

Some all-time favorites of mine:
Pi: So intellectual it'll make your head explode.

Metropolis: Absolute masterpiece. The original was a silent film that will wow even the most ardent special-effect fans. There is a recent re-release of this movie on DVD with a soundtrack by Queen that adds even more depth and ambience to the movie. This is a movie tha I could (and have) watch over and over and over.....

Rocky Horror Picture Show: Nuff said :)

I don't mean to be rude but that one key labelled "Caps Lock" on your keyboard, if you push it and the light on the right hand side of the keyboard goes off you can type in lower case. Unless of course it is the shift key that is stuck.

OKAY WELL FROM NOW ON I AM GOING TO MAKE ALL MY POSTS IN UPPERCASE SO THAT YOU CAN'T READ ANYONE ELSES BECAUSE MINE IS SO LARGE AND PREDOMINANT.

THEN WE WILL SEE JUST HOW LONG BEFORE YOU GET FRUSTRATED WITH HUGE POSTS BEING IN UPPERCASE.

IT IS JUST ETIQUETTE TO USE LOWER CASE IN YOUR POSTS TO GIVE EVERYBODY THE SAME SORT OF "VOLUME" IN THE FORUM. BUT IF UPPERCASE IS COOL HEY I'LL STOP POINTING THIS OUT.

Theater:
Team America: FUNNY AS HELL. Nuff said.
Sky Captain: Fun movie. FULL of plot holes and inconsistencies, but they are surprisingly inconspicuous (for someone who LOOKS for them) and I'm not sure they weren't intentional considering that they were going for a late 20's feel to the film.

DVD:
Van Helsing: Good overall movie, I love how they worked in VH's TRUE identity. Some special effects were done AMAZINGLY well, others should have had more time spent on them. I loved Frankenstein in this movie. Great character.
Bubba Ho-Tep: Slow and boring, but with a few good one-liners. The concept behind the movie was great, but they could have done SO MUCH more with it. I bought it because I'm a diehard fan of "The Chinman" :)
Hellboy: Liked it in the theater, liked the director's cut even better, but still think they could have fleshed out Abe and Liz a little better. Kroener ranks among my all-time favorite movie villians, though :) The fact that he had fewer lines than Darth Maul actually makes him BETTER.

The last new movie I saw was Sky Captain. This was a fun movie. As ScienceofSpock said, full of a few plot holes, but they did little to dimish how fun this movie was overall.

The last movie I saw in general was A Time to Kill, it was on TNT. This was a great movie. I had never seen it, it is from 1996, according to IMDB.

Movies I'm looking forward to: ALEXANDER!!!

bubba ho tep... not even going there whats with the bugs i mean really that movie was flossed out
hellboy loved it
van helsing (i spelled that wtong i keep wanting to say vanhalen anyway) i am a huge fan of frankenstein but he was like extreamly sensitive in this movie could have had a stronger role if you know what i mean

One thing I didn't quite get was the Predator body count. Seems like there were more predators killed then were sent down. The grudge was NOT scary. Some parts were actually really cheesy. I'm glad I didn't pay to see it. Maybe save it for a rental. The effects were great but man some scenes could have been improved sooo much! But to each their own :)

I saw 2 movies this weekend, The Stepford Wives (do not see it - god awful) and Goodbye Lenin! (very good german flick!!!)

the problem with most modern films is their special effects. and this is coming from someone in that line of work. movies used to seem so much better and more memorable, now its all special effects fluff. empty calories. when one relies on the special effects to carry the movie, it will fail. only good story telling and compelling characters can every make a good movie. thats why pixar and dreamworks films are so great, they develope characters that the audience cares about while having mind blowing effects, a mix that only the best can do.

omitting the Hobbit war...it must be in the extended version)...Fight

I don't agree. Troy was a good film to begin with, and the jump attack thing that Achilles does is pretty cool, but the plot was horrendous and completely deviated from the original by Homer. Good fun though.

I'd recomend "Donnie Darko" to anyone, best film in the world. "Crouching Tiger, hidden Dragon" is brilliant too.

I still cannot believe they called the film that!

I just watched the film "Collateral" starring Tom Cruise. This film was quite good, not the best film but it had a reasonable story and plenty of action.

I must admit, there were a few moments in the film i questioned whether the taxi driver was infact Denzel Washington. He looks like a younger version of him.
