Your last GTKY was done back in 2004, so I pressume lots needs to be updated...

1. Do you still work for that small IT company? Are you still the Media Director?

2. Do you still live in the same city?

3. I know you're married and with super cute kids. On your last GTKY, you posted a family portrait. Since that photo was taken, have there been any new additions to the family?

4. What's the meaning behind your nickname?

6. What are you up to this weekend?

7. How tall are you?

8. Would you rather read minds or be invisible?

9. Finish this sentence "My life's motto is..."

10. Tell us something about your self that we might find surprising.

11. What were you doing right before logging into ozzu?

12. What kind of car do you drive? (post a photo!)

13. Who did you wish you were when you were a kid?

14. Have you ever had the "naked in a classroom" dream?

15. Going on vacation this summer? If yes, tell us about it.

16. Guilty pleasures & bad habits (cigarettes, gum, candy, etc) Give us the dirt!

17. Any bad habits?

18. Any useless talents? (double jointed, tongue can touch nose, great animal noises imitations, etc)

19. What are you most afraid of?

20. How old were you when you first fell in love?

21. Pet peeves. We all have them. Share some of yours with us.

22. What is your least favorite vegetable?

23. Do you speak more than one language?

24. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?

25. Do you have any pets?

26. What are you working on today at work?

27. What do you do to stay in shape? Or do you do anything at all? LOL

28. Do you or have you ever had any speed tickets?

29. Tell us about your first ever part time job.

30. What were your high school years like?

Post more questions everyone.

Wow! What a pleasant surprise on a Friday afternoon. :)

Nope! For the last 2+ years I've been working for a company that produces Benefit Management Software, online. So if you worked for a big company and had health and retirement benefits from your employer, you might use our stuff to manage those things from the HR side or from the employee side.

I work out of my house. The company I work for is located in the next state over. Before you say, "Working at home is awesome.", I'll warn you, it's a mixed blessing. ;)

Yep! I didn't choose Irmo, SC. Fate seems to keep choosing it for me.

The dog, shown above, is Gretel - as in Hansel and Gretel. She is awesome. She's very affectionate and sweet. :)

4. What's the meaning behind your nickname?

I guess I started using that handle in 2002, 2003. I can't remember specifically. It comes from my inability to describe what I do for a living. You know? I'll be at a party or something, and someone will say, "What do you do for a living?", and I'll fumble my way into, "Well, I make stuff...on computers...and stuff..."

After a while I just started saying, "I make digital media". Now I say, "I'm a multimedia developer."

6. What are you up to this weekend?

Oh YES YES YES!!!! This weekend is going to be packed. Saturday, the family is going 90 miles down the road to Charleston, were my folks live, to attend my Grandfather's memorial service at my parents house. This may sound macabre, but, he passed several months ago and I'm really looking at it as a celebration of his life.

SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY!
My next door neighbor has a pool. A couple weeks ago I got a new grill/BBQ thing. Long and short, HUGE FREAKIN' PARTY/BBQ, next door! :)

We're doing a few pork butts, some ribs, some burgers and chicken too. We're having a keg, of course.

A good time will be had by all.

Quote:
7. How tall are you?

6' 4"

Quote:
8. Would you rather read minds or be invisible?

Read minds.

Quote:
9. Finish this sentence "My life's motto is..."

"I do not know!" <-- ...really, that's it.

Quote:
10. Tell us something about your self that we might find surprising.

I used to be fat, now I'm...slender-ish. I'm innately agnostic, but I attend church services, religiously. My favorite things in the world seem to be research and history. I'm not a sports guy, at all. But, I love the Dallas Cowboys and partake of watching boxing, once in a while.

Quote:
11. What were you doing right before logging into ozzu?

I was hanging out in my front yard with my neighbor. We were drinking beers and planning SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY!

Quote:
12. What kind of car do you drive? (post a photo!)

I drive a Saturn ION-3. I can't remember what year it is. I am not a gear head. I have no capacity for model numbers/years/technical details, etc.

Quote:
13. Who did you wish you were when you were a kid?

Tony Dorsett, but later Joe Elliot.

Quote:
14. Have you ever had the "naked in a classroom" dream?

I hate that one!

Quote:
15. Going on vacation this summer? If yes, tell us about it.

We had talked about going to Disneyworld, but I think we're going to opt for a vacation of lesser scale this year.

Quote:
16. Guilty pleasures & bad habits (cigarettes, gum, candy, etc) Give us the dirt!

Cigarettes! Bah!!! I love them. I hate them. I love them. I hate them. Oh cruel world!!! Drinking beer in the afternoon. Drinking too much Jack Daniel's, when I drink Jack Daniel's.

Quote:
17. Any bad habits?

See 16.

Quote:
18. Any useless talents? (double jointed, tongue can touch nose, great animal noises imitations, etc)

You know? It's funny. My whole career is based on useless talents.

Quote:
19. What are you most afraid of?

Being a bad father and husband.

Quote:
20. How old were you when you first fell in love?

Mmm. I was 14. It was the first time I ever kissed a girl with the intention of passion(it was a "French" kiss, actually). It never would have happened if it wasn't for her. I was a dork and too scared to speak. Ha!

Quote:
21. Pet peeves. We all have them. Share some of yours with us.

I hate that amateurs can make "web sites" and, by and large, the general-public doesn't know the difference between that, and what I do for a living.

Quote:
22. What is your least favorite vegetable?

Eggplant.

Quote:
23. Do you speak more than one language?

No.

Quote:
24. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?

Both.

Quote:
25. Do you have any pets?

Rocky is my oldest dog. He's about 13 or 14.

Gretel is about 1 year old.

We also have a beta fish. His name is Johnny Neptune. He'll eat his food right out of my hand. :)

Quote:
26. What are you working on today at work?

I think you mean, "What should I be working on today?" ;)

Quote:
27. What do you do to stay in shape? Or do you do anything at all? LOL

Currently, yard work is all I have time for. :(

Quote:
28. Do you or have you ever had any speed tickets?

Yup. But, I'm a boring-careful driver. Last ticket was about '96 or '97, I think.

Quote:
29. Tell us about your first ever part time job.

Also at age 14. My Dad is/was an architect. He got me a job on a construction crew. Every guy working there knew that I was "The architect's son."

That sucked, but I learned a lot that summer.

Quote:

Morbid, horrible, unpleasant, boring, confused, regrettable. :)

I grew up in a very blue-collar area in West Virginia. My Dad was an architect, so most people assumed that I was somehow privileged. However, they had no idea how hard my Dad had to work to keep his practice afloat during those years.

So, being the so-called privileged kid working on a construction crew because "Daddy" got me the job, well, that kind of made me an easy target.

Quote:
32. Have you even lived or worked abroad?

Nope. I've lived my whole life in the eastern US. I've only crossed the Mississippi River a handful of times.

Quote:
33. Would you ever like to live and work abroad if you haven't already?

I would love to visit other countries and explore other cultures. There are several sites I've always wanted to experience in person.

Yes, I do drink Jack Daniel's and Water. It is my favorite drink. I've never tried Absinthe. As I understand it a good deal of it's mystique is based on misconceptions. I would try it if I had the opportunity, though.

That's a difficult one. I grew up at the perfect age to experience video games as they were first being developed. Therefore, I have fond memories of Asteroids, Tempest, Centipede, Joust, Donkey Kong, Frogger, Pac Man, etc. I guess the one that really caused me to bleed quarters was Tron. :)

I donate my dwindling free time to a number of projects including my church's website (not finished - http://www.ecsssj.org/prelaunch/ ), The Christopher Conner Foundation ( http://www.connerfoundation.org ), A ministry of someone I've become friends with ( http://www.dawnsmithjordan.com/ ) as well as some others.

Photography is a perpetual activity for me. I never know when the bug will bite me.

Most recently, I've started sketches for an acrylic painting of my family. It's going to be somewhat surreal, but not like Dali, or anything.

My kid's stuff! Helping with homework, being there for school events, etc. And working in my boxer shorts. :)

Trying to manage my time, distractions, etc.

I love cerveza! My favorite is Modelo Especial. It's a very drinkable well balanced lager. It's great with Tex-Mex or all on it's own. However, I usually drink Miller Lite. I case of Lite = 12 pack of Modelo. Bummer. :)

In all honesty, I can do some rudimentary programming, but I don't enjoy it much. I find it exhausting to keep my brain working in that mode of thought. That being that, I guess I prefer Actionscript. As programming goes, that feels more like doodling. :)

R_T wrote:
41.(a GTKY Question that I didn't see here) Would you rather be sucked dry by a vampire or eaten by a werewolf?

If it was the vamp, would I get to be a vamp? Ya know, I think I'll just go with vampires - a hot female one, preferably.

All 3 computers on my desk on running WinXP - current SP. My server is RedHat/Apache/MySQL.

I used to be a night owl, but currently, I wake up about 5 A.M. Since nobody else is up, I sit in my garage, smoke cigarettes, drink coffee and play guitar.

R_T wrote:
44.Lucky number?

I guess I don't buy into "luck" too much. Right now I can't think of a number that I link with good fortune.

R_T wrote:
45.Do you play poker? If yes, favorite poker hand to have after the deal? (Texas Hold'em style)

I haven't played for a while, but I LOVE a good game with friends. I've never played Texas Hold'em. I've only ever played Dealer's Choice. Mostly 5-card-draw would be my favorite. It's nice to start with 3 of kind of the top, but, the makings of a full boat or a straight are nice too.

Sushi, Indian, Steak Dinner(American Style) and Tex-Mex.

R_T wrote:

I don't just "browse" any more. Mostly, the best websites I see are the ones my kids look at. But...

Wow. I had too think about this one. The first time I was asked to moderate, I was really excited. Currently, I don't really regard moderating as being different than any other user. You move the occassional thread, send some PM's, etc. The best perk is the moderators forum, but we don't use it to chatter like we used to.

R_T wrote:

I like XBox. I think we're going to get the kids a Wii this year. I'll have to see how I like that.

I can't stand browser mail, but I do keep both a Hotmail and Google account for reasons you should all be familiar with.

joebert wrote:

I think I've fallen way behind in Actionscript over the last couple of years. Unfortunately, my work hasn't presented me with many reasons to keep up-to-date.

Yup, still there. The wall is 10' wide x 8' tall. The sun is yawning as it fights off sleep and the moon is in the background patiently waiting its turn to shine. I haven't done any murals since.

I'm the asshole who would give them an hour long lecture about why it was wrong and escort them to each house where they would be required to explain their transgression, apologize and return their ill gotten booty.

Ah, fishing! That's something that I've always wanted to do more. The last time I went fishing was a little less than two years ago on a private pond. I caught 3 or 4 bass. I didn't measure any of them, or weigh them. My best friend took me and taught me some stuff. Good times. :)

I haven't eaten ice cream in over 6 years, so any ice cream would likely taste spectacular. If you need to have a specific answer, then vanilla.
