Actually that should be "Belated Happy Birthday". His birthday was never belated.

Actually the term "Birthday" itself is ambiguous. One only has one "Birthday" ever. Every other year is simply a celebration of the anniversary of one's nativity.

I prefer to call it an anniversary of a birthday that i liked.

for instance, next year will be my second anniversary of my 30th birthday.... :)

My birthday is always belated, albeit not technically. It's on a holiday, and because of that the "real" birthday always ends up happening on the weekend after the actual birthday.
