it is a bit of a made-up retail-opportunity kind of holiday......... in japan it's much worse, they've hyped it up so that on valentine's day girls have to give boys chocolate - and not just your valentine, but all the guys in your life - colleagues, friends, whatever. so of course chocolate sales go through the roof. then a month later there's 'White Day', when men return the favor and buy little boxes of chocolates for girls (again - not your girl, but ALL girls) - and it's supposed to be white chocolate. Talk about capitalizing on an opportunity......
