Went to my local shop late last night bought a few things and tried to pay with my debit card, it was declined  After i had finished apologising I went home and tried to log on to my online account only to find it had been suspended :?

Anyway, popped into the bank today only to discover my card had been cloned and the police had arrested somebody trying to sell my bank details online  :?

They cannot tell me when/where it was cloned so I have to review all bank statements for the past 12-months, since the card was issued. The most likely cause was an ATM or a shop assistant who would have swiped it whilst my back was turned.

Anyway, eyes open peeps. Never let your card out of your site.

Right now, if i could find the culrpit responsible I'd probably gut him like a fish. I'm still in shock.

Cheers, Prime...

Why do you say that it was most likely at an ATM or a shop assistant? You just said that you do online banking. Maybe there is a key logger on your machine. Did you ever think of that?

It was the advice of the Police, apparently they are the most common methods.

At least they caught the sucker. What ever happened to the days of robbing a train and riding off into the desert to hide your treasure in an abandoned mine? Criminals these days are so lazy...

There is a chance there is a key logger on the machine, but it's interesting to point out that you are ruling out online banking as the cause for the card being cloned.

Did you know that you are actually safer shopping online than you are physically in the shop?

Its ridiculous that these card frauders get away with this stuff. Employees are supposed to be trained to ask for ID at ALL times. Used to manage a Gamestop and once had a lady literally ATTACK me with her 4 inch high-heel when I refused to give back the fake card she was using to try and buy over $1000 worth of merchandise. Thank god for mall rent-a-cops :D

Credit cards are just swiped these days. If the card is used before it's reported stolen, it gets approved. If they find out it's stolen later, the merchant gets stuck with the loss, so the banks make money if the card is stolen or not.

A thief can use a stolen card for a phone order, send the merchandise to an empty apartment and be their to sign for it. The UPS or FedEx driver doesn't care who signs.

Same here I am having a bad day right now, not by some ATM card issues, some other issues I read on some blog sites and I am really disappointed by it, I can't say what it is because some one from our company might read it. And I feel really lazy right now because I don't know if it is true.

I just got a Paypal card about a week ago.
I get an email any time it's used.

I had my email getting forwarded to my phone via SMS while I was in St. Pete last nite. I got a notification on my phone before the bartender could walk back over to me with a receipt to sign for my tab. lol
Patience.
