You should make it as an animated gif, that would work easily. I am not sure if you can use flash in your sig. b_heyer or Unflux would better answer this question. :D

You can't use flash in your signature here. Has to be an animated gif like musik suggested, then use the [img][/img] BBcode to incorporate it. Looks nice though.

Actually I am pretty sure you can use flash...someone has a signature that is flash fades in the graphic at a random direction. Just copy and paste the object code into the signature box in your profile and see if that works.

If I must have an animated picture, is there any possible way that I can convert flash into a jpg or gif format?
if not, what programs can I use to make animated pictures?

Didn't work for me either. And I didn't think it was going to. Bigwebmaster would have to allow the object, param and embed ellements to the board configuration for it to work, and I seriously doubt he'll do that. I know I wouldn't.

I've always liked this one for gif animations, Shadow Night:

To the best of my knowledge you can't do animations with jpgs. And I'm not certain you can convert flash to a gif - maybe. Lostinbeta or UNFLUX may be able to answer that one.

Could be some risk, but the biggest thing is if folks started posting a bunch of flash stuff, it would seriously slow up page load time. That would be the primary reason I wouldn't do it.

Try that gif construction set. It works pretty well. You have to create the images individually, like real animation, and that takes time and effort, but it's still pretty slick and the file sizes are usually small if you do them right.

I did like it. Nice job for the first one.

In the meantime, can I suggest editing your signature so there isn't a broken link there?

I am almost 100 percent positive you can post flash here. Kalbal..err nucleo did it in the test forum a few weeks ago. And I know one guy has a flash signature that randomonly fades. Just try it once...here I'll even try it for you:

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=5,0,42,0"
id="Logo" width="277" height="99">
<param name="movie" value="http://cuba2004.50free.org/Logo.swf" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" />
<embed name="Logo" src="http://cuba2004.50free.org/Logo.swf"
quality="high" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" swLiveConnect="true" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain"');
width="277" height="99"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></embed>

</object>

*duh -- I can be so blind at times. I forgot to change the relative link to absolute. However, I still would not recommend it. I don't think it's fair to ozzu viewers to increase the page load time.

And it will if it gets overused.

Shadow Knight - you need to change your footer ASAP. All this talk of
slowing down web page load times, and you're posting almost a 500k
image for your signature. :roll:

Please change it and adhere to the guidelines of no larger than 460x100
or something like that. ALso, if you can't keep the filesize to a
reasonable level of under 30k, you should try something different.

ATNO - Unfortunately, I disagree with you about flash and loadtimes.
That same effect Shadow is blasting at us would be less than 20k in flash
in comparison. People who use flash, and have no idea how to optimize
properly, are who gives flash a bad name in this light. I think it's a
rather weak argument against flash with this kind of proof.

thanks for taking your footer down. :)

in a lot of cases -- most cases -- when it comes to smaller graphics, and
the flash is optimized correctly, no it does not slow it down. In fact, I am
willing to bet it would speed things up in a lot cases if the sites were
done in flash.

My entire site is less than 80k with 4 hi-res photos. An html version of
my site totals over 350k.
