If you're of age, a pint of blackberry brandy does the trick. (taken in moderation of course - don't chug it *lol

Zicam, taken in whichever form you can find it does the trick but one usually has to begin treatment at the onset of the infection.

Aside from that, green tea infused with sliced ginger root and a bit of honey will relieve some of the symptoms, though not heal you any more quickly.

Add a shot of whiskey (or whatever) to the hot tea at night, and you may fall asleep more easily, which will help speed the infection out of your system.

Cheers.

Things work different for different people. There are zinc tablets available out there that presumably mask the symptoms of a cold. I've used them and they work, but leave a crappy metallic aftertaste in your mouth. I personally like Daemonguy's method the best. One of the key ingredients in a lot of liquid cold remedies is often alcohol anyway.

If you dont have green tea, just make a hot toddy.

3 shots whiskey (you are of legal age  right?)
half a lemon
4 tbs honey

heat in microwave oven for 2 mins on high

There must be something going around, I just got sick a few days ago too. I couldn't sleep at all last night because of my running nose and sore throat.

I usually take Zicam and Airborne. It seems to help some but its defintely no cure.

I have something really bad: Cytomegalovirus (CMV) - http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/diseases/cmv.htm . Right now it has infected glands around my abdomen. It is terrible
