I own 3 for myself, and I kind of maintain 1 for a family member.

I only really use 2 of them though. (both in my sig)

I used to own about 10 and thought that was a lot.

Then I found how having more domains = more traffic = more money. So I bought a bunch more, and now have about 60.

But I soon realized I can't just keep buying domains, since

a) they are $8 each, and
b) all the good domains are already taken.

So then I had the idea that, if I can't buy good quality domains by myself, why not rent other peoples' domains that already have those good quality domains I want.

One year later, my website http://www.rentyourdot.com now hosts about 48,000+ domains.

Recently I went to the TRAFFIC conference in Las Vegas, where the average ownership is about 8,000 domains per person. One of my customers has about 33,000 domains (of which he has given me about 10000 to work with), and the largest domain holder at the conference had 650,000 domains.

There was one girl however at the confence who owned a single domain. She had purchased blue.com about 6 years ago for $60,000 and just held onto it. She paid for it over time, and last year, sold it for $500,000

I used to have godaddysales, google-homepage, yahoo-homepage etc

They made money, but I will drop them since I dont really want to infringe. I can make money with we8kjsd03.com so I may as well rather than with an infringing domain name.

Right now I only own 2 domains but it's interesting to see that many of you own a lot of domains with a good portion just waiting to be used for something.

I never really thought of it like that, but it seems like a good idea to do so.

yeah I am not a fan of sitting on domains just to resell them to make money but if people buy domains because they have plans in the pipework to use that they thats cool.
