Paul -- you're killing me. I have bifocals for crying out loud. Please do us all a favor and switch your color preference for text to something other than that blue. Preferably the default white. I view at 1280x1024 res and your post was a blue blurr until I got two inches away from the screen.

I think if you hit the OZZU search button at the top of any page and typed a portion of your question, you'll find this question has been asked and answered here before.

you can try some freelance sites to see what others are charging for the same type of project, you may even find some more projects to do if you are into developement.

It depends on how big his website will be thats where the prices come in  so if you can tell us how big the site will be then we can try to help.

On a serious note, this is a little long, but you might find it helpful.

I charge for all work in one of two ways.

1) For the entire project.
This is how I charge 80% of the time.
After working for a while you will get an appreciation for how much work you actually have to do to complete a given a task.

I normally work it out by the $/hr I want to charge the particular client.
For simple HTTP work, I charge 55/hr.
For PP/PERL/ColdFusion/FLASH work I charge 85/hr.

I decide it will take me 4 hours to complete the job and charge at time x the $/hr. Pretty simple really... But make sure you add about 15% extra after you have your final amount.
Ie. (4 x 55) + 15%.

No matter how good you think your guessing is for the amount of time it will take... always add in a fudge factor.
In fact the blling code I use for this 15% is GFA,
(General Fart Arsing around!)
Ie. the time you spend waiting for the printer warm-up, the PC to turn... all the time taken during the project that you don't actually spend in front of the PC, but relates to the project.

Also make sure you charge for any internet searches/downloads as an extra.

2)Charge by the hour.
I use this option if there is no project scope set.
Ie. they want you to make changes to their site, but they don't know what they want themselves. The last thing you want to do is give a set price for a job if the tasks keep adding up on top of each other ..
Be sure when subitting your bills, that you add-in the 15% GFA and any extras.
