Until the end of September I was connecting to the internet via aol with a 56K modem. I got a cable connection then at 1.5 Mbps downstream and they just bumped us up to 3 Mbps. I love this broadband and don't know how I ever survived without it. I did the speed test at the dslreports site which assneck mentioned in an earlier post:

Speed test results

I was wondering how many people are still using modems and whether anybody with a dsl had tried the speed test.

Yeah, the upload speed hasn't changed since the upgrade, but after the agony of dial-up it still seems lightning fast to me. :)

i was on dsl for about a year and it was way better than dialup, but now im on cable and there is no comparison. on dsl the max download speed i ever got was like 100kbs on cable i get like 500-600kbs. only good thing about dsl was that the upload was around 60kbs and on my cable connection its about 30kbs.

here is my results from dslreports

weird i just re clicked my link for my work connection and it just said "Beyond 8mbit, the test results are not reliable and cannot be recorded." but the first time i ran the test is actually stated the speed whick is just over 30 Mbit (i know un real aint it!) and the upload is relatively slow in comparison 1.2Mbit

edit:

just ran a new speed test from work and OMG!

I can't get cable where I live. I have it at work though. Modem dial up is cool for me at home because I don't really have much need for anything faster :)
