Ok, a little about me....

Name: Eric
Age: 28
Location: Glendale, CA
Occupation: Peace Officer

My background.. Well, it's not near as impressive as most of the others I've read. I'm fluent in HTML, Javascript, and PHP. Learning flash. I run several web servers for hosting files, but have been working to expand a tad. (As soon as I figure out what I'm REALLY doing... hehe). I run a web enhancement website that also caters to mIRC, Certain FPS Games, Graphics, and other "stuff" which you can view at http://www.smileysoft.org

I went to college at University of Washington where I did not graduate due to tuition..... but had a good time while I was there majoring in Psycology and minoring in Meteorilogical sciences.

I'm a tinkerer. If it's got lights, buttons, switches and stuff, Chances are I've taken it apart and put it back together. (I still believe if something does't work right, it usually has too many parts)

Anyway, I'm usually pretty knowledgable, so hopefully I can lend a hand here.

Hi folks. I'm new here, but been online off and on for 11 years.
More ON than off. 8)

Name: Matt
Age: 29
Location: Michigan

I served in the USMC for 4 years straight outta High School.
Who cares? So what?

I love computers and am learning or trying to learn everything
I can about Programming. My first PC was the peice of *plum* 64K
Tandy from Radio Shack. Yes, that's 64K! I had to program
it in Basic before I could even use it. :D

Since I was never able to upgrade, I was VERY limited as to what
I could do with it. But I learned some pretty neat things with Basic. :P

I was only a small child and my parents refused to Upgrade....
(because they did NOT understand them) I was the PC GURU.
I learned to hack into the elementary school with a friend and
we changed our grades... 8) Hmmmm.....maybe THAT'S why
they never upgraded. LOL (We used my friends PC, a slighty
better model than mine; a 128K with a 1400 or 2800 buad modem)

To make a long story short, I never got another PC of my own
until AFTER I was out of the USMC. I tried to stay current through
the school Computer courses, but they didn't teach anything
beyond COBOL. So now here I am way behind the times as far
as CODING goes.

I'm quite fluent in HTML, some JavaScript, a bit of DHTML, CSS is
getting easier for me, learning PHP. I want to learn CGI, PERL,
C/C++, possibly Delphi, Definately Python.

I am a research GOD, when I want to be :D

I'm into a bit of Internet Marketing and own Resale Rights
to tons of products.

That's how I found this forum...I was researching one of the
Products I have Master Resale Rights to. It's an HTML Encryptor.
I was comparing it to the others out there that I know of. :)

I know Mike Chen, the creator of the junk encryptor, WebLockPro :)
Don't worry guys, we're NOT friends.

I also know Bogdan Ravaru, the creator of HTML Code Guard.
The little tricks outlined on this forum works on his encryption
program too.

Which means Mine can also easily be cracked. Since I think mine
is pretty much a CLONE of his HTML Code Guard.

But THAT'S okay. I'm going to promote mine much differently.

I'm going to GIVE mine away to anyone that can CRACK it, Prove
it and SHOW me HOW they did it

Anyone that cannot figure it out and thinks it's a good product,
can buy it.

Well, I've post far more than I planned already!

Peace & Prosperity,
Matt

Hello. I'm DK. I'm primarily a php programmer, but I know a little bit of javascript and a good bit of PERL (gave it up for PHP). Hobbies are going to nightclubs, beaches, beer, guitar, programming (when I'm not burnt out), video games, trying to learn Japanese, etc.

I've made a lot of websites for a lot of people. The most popular are...

http://www.gsv2.com <- GrooveSeeker
http://www.japanupdate.com <- JapanUpdate.com
http://www.japanupdate.com/classifieds/english <- Classifieds
http://www.japanupdate.com/forums <- Forums

Don't know what else to say, but I'm looking forward to chatting it up and occasionally learning new things in here.

Do you think maybe you could change that sig?

Having an animated gif that's 3/4 of a Meg isn't gonna be appreciated by those on dialup and other slower connections.

Good morning everyone.

John here, nick; 'Daemonguy'.

38, presently residing in RTP -- Research Triangle Park -- North Carolina.

Sr. Engineer with IBM; good 'ole Big Blue.
I've been everything from a programmer, (C, Assembler, Perl, JS) to a Security Systems Engineer. I have also designed large-scale networks and even a stint as a systems administrator, god knows how many years back. I have worked on nearly every OS of import; SunOS, Solaris, HPUX (shudder), OpenBSD, FreeBSD, NetBSD, RedHat, SUSE, AIX, blah blah, etc. et al). I briefly logged into an IRIX box, but justifiably, ran like hell.
Generally, I like Cisco gear, though for high speed load balancing solutions go with Foundry every time.

Presently I work as -- what IBM calls -- a Technical Webmaster. Our group conceives and architects solutions across the entire spectrum if IT. We then display these marvels to the world in grandiose fashion -- such as during major sporting events; Wimbledon, US Open, Masters, etc. Right now, we're down under doing the Australian Open; http://www.australianopen.com.

Our newest baby; Nodes on Demand.

Before this, I was a contract engineer for the Dept. of Defense. Before that, I worked for the government in a different capacity.

I have to say my favorite *nix is FreeBSD with OpenBSD a close second. Linux is good, and fills a requirement niche I suppose :), but BSD is king IMHO.

I am not sure how often I will be able to visit the site, but it would be nice to 'give something back'. ;)

Cheers all!

What a great way to get involved in a forum! At last some real people with real lives! I love it!

Now for the nitty gritty..
I'm 40 (eek) and from Scotland. (Yes, we do have computers up here  I'm also out of work but that doesn't stop me from being busy!

I had a quick look through this section and it seems that many of you are pretty well up on computers and all the stuff that goes with them.
Well, I'm not  but I am learning faster than I thought I ever could. I only got into them about 3 years ago whilst at college (better late than never eh!)
All I have at home is Windows 98LE: it's getting on a bit but it'll have to do for now.

I'm an artist and a bloody good one at that, but obviously not good enough to be rich - yet! You need to have money to make money in Britain

The first website I built was my own. There's a technical problem just now which has stopped people viewing it: this is temporary. I'll let you know when it's up and running again which should be in the next few days.
The site shows most of my artwork, sculpture and some other stuff. I want to build a better site so that's the project that you folks will hopefully be helping me with soon

My future hubby is gorgeous, caring and hilarious - he's my hero and I love him to bits! I have a 12 yr old daughter who likes the Prodigy, Marlyn Manson and punk rock and hates being called 'the bairn'!.

I hate whisky and haggis but love beer, red wine and pizza.. mmm pizzzaaaa...

I hate melodic pop punk and the Pop Idol/karaoke music scene but love old school punk 1977+, esp Brits, trance/dance and music festivals. Our ambition is to build a camper: this country's climate has killed the camping life for me, but not the festival spirit!

Anyhoo - that's all I can think of the noo.
It's a pleasure to meet you all and I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Cheerio the noo :salut:

I'm Carl, and I run Songfacts.com. I'm really into music and have loved digging into songs ever since someone told me The Beatles' "With A Little Help From My Friends" was about drugs (it isn't). Our little website that was used by a few DJs grew into a very popular place to discuss music, play trivia, and learn about a ton of songs.

When I'm not hunting down songwriters for interviews, I cheer for the Red Sox, feed my fish, watch VH1, read anything in magazine form, eat at diners and try to keep my Honda running.
