I had to get a iTouch for work. I thought I would see how long it took me to
write a post.

Answer: A long time. Sheesh!

How about one of those spanking new iPads? they look cool, but I'm not totally sold on them yet. One thing I don't understand is the operating system, is it OS X or something else? If it isn't OS X, then that is a big thick minus in my eyes.

I had to get this iTouch, specifically. I think I'm getting better at typing.

Anyone have any suggestions for apps?

Apps? i've got loads (on my iphone although i believe they work on ipod touch too)...

Google App

Shazam - recognises music and displays song and artist

eBuddy - if you are into your instant messaging

Remote - great if you are near computer with iTunes on it, you can pause skip and play music through your ipod touch

Facebook - if you are keen on keeping up to date with happenings on Facebook, much better than browsing the site through Safari

Photobucket - maybe only accessable in iphone because ipod touch doesn't have camera. Pretty sure you can still browse any photos you may have on an account if you have one.

Flickr - Exactly the same as Photobucket only a million times better.

Wikipedia - great for instant and easy access to information on the site

Some games and fun apps...

Mini Piano - only one octave, but i still love playing it sometimes.

Zynga Poker - links up to any zynga poker accounts you may have through facebook

Solitaire City - One of my favourite game apps i have come across. You can play traditional Solitaire and Spider Solitaire.

Ragdoll Lite - free fun game that still entertains me when i load it up.

TapWord - Great word game where you have to find as many words as you can linking the letters together.

iCopter - one of those click on the mouse to keep the item accending kinda games only you tap the screen. It can be quite fun.

reMovem Free - I absolutely love this game.

Parking Lite - A game where the tilt on the phone determines the direction of the vehicle. Worth checking out if you want to experience one of the iPhone/iPod cool features.

iShoot Lite - cool little worms type war game.

Stick-Fu - stick men fighting game. Quite fun.

Bejeweled 2 - This is the only app i have listed so far you need to pay for. It is worth the small sum of money though. I have had it on my phone for a couple of months now and have never been bored with it yet. Great to link to Facebook account too so you csn compete with friends scores which resets weekly.

Spikey - quite a strategic game which despite also paying for this (there is a Lite/Free version) i have yet to complete. Worth downloading.

DoodleJump - Fun little game which never gets boring.

Hahaha! Good question. It's for a marketing push we're doing.

Speaking of which, does anyone know how to create an icon on iTouch's desktop that opens a video...that already on the device?

You would probably have to create an app that plays a video and have it search through the device for your video.

This thing is kind of fun. No problems with the wireless access. The Facebook and Wiki apps are very nice(I kind of like the FB app better than the actual site). Youtube is good too.

SpooF, as far as I can tell, your right on. Hmmmm. Must learn more. :)

Will you have wifi access wherever you show video? In that case a website.

If not, jailbreak or use Discover wifi and make sure the videos are compatible.

No, wifi isn't a sure thing. These things are going to be preloaded on the device and mailed out to key prospects. They'll come in a package with simple instructions for playing the video. So, I was trying to figure out the easiest most sure-fire way to get them (the recipient) there.

Video compatability isn't a problem. I'm making video/animations in Flash, exporting to Quicktime and converting with Quicktime Pro. The playback is really impressive and clean on the device. The resulting filesize is pretty impressive too.

Ok so like the current apps out there like discover won't work, way too many steps to get places and confusing.

What you can do is just put the videos in itunes and sync the device, and then have the ipod launch to videos..

Already got the sync part down.

You can have it launch directly to videos?

HOLY CRAP!!! I didn't notice that before. If I have the videos list open then turn it off, on restart it comes straigt to videos! Is that what you meant?

How absolutely obvious is that?

Thank you for pointing out the nose on my face when I coudn't find it.

(Sorry, I'm a little excited.)

Yeah, if that is clean enough, otherwise I am sure it would take a max of 2 weeks for someone to actually make an app that would suite you better, the dev code on site has it all there, just some minor tweaks you would want like a different display method of the thumbnails, etc.

If you flip the device on its side coverflow may be a better way to view the list?

I was thinking, i imagine you would be able to use Skype too for your SMS. Could be cheaper instead of using your normal phone.

My cousin encouraged me to get an app called Ping also which does instant SMS messages to other users of the sofware. Handy for me being my cousin lives in Canada, so it would save alot of money than if i was to do it through my phone. He uses it on his ipod touch whereas i have it on my iphone...so you don't need any sort of phone signal.
