b_heyer n' dM touched on this in another thread...

How many of you here go on IRC? How long have you been chatting on IRC? And where do y'all hang out?

Oh man, Dalnet... I haven't really been on there much for a coupla years, like you said since it got hit real bad.. before that I was on Undernet for a few years, and various other networks before that.. I've been chatting away on IRC for about 9 or 10 years now...

Integrating IRC into a website chatroom is not too difficult... There are servers already out there that will allow you to put their chat on your site, or you can setup your own IRC server if you have the resources available (shell account, plenty of ram, etc, and a willing system admin, heh).

If you want to chat a bit though, let me know and I'll help you get something sorted out. :)

/me doesn't remember any of that IRC stuff. Plus, I can't find my 40lb trout.

:)

Seriously though, that would be kinda cool to do some OZZU IRC'ing.

Hey -- all I'm asking for is a little bit of that 40lb trout. Especially if we grill it in butter over an open fire about 10 minutes after it's caught.

hahahaha. Darn it! Your not supposed to look until I'm done editing. LOL.

I'm afraid that 40lb trout is only for slapping people. (If you're familiar with mIRC)

It's funny you said that though. I just got done eating a HUGE hunk of salmon - broiled, with lots of butter and garlic. :)

mmmmmm

I always used to make my own /me actions for mIRC, it sure made chat interesting ;)

I kinda miss chatrooms sometimes, I used to live in them for years, then I got over the politics you get in them... so moved onto message boards, much easier to re-read what you write before you post it. I hardly use msn anymore and when I do most of my list is on block.

I dont know any good chatrooms anymore.

Oh, there's no politics on my server, it's more of a dictatorship. If I don't like somebody, I K-Line 'em ;)

lol, I'm kidding, I don't really, but the channel politics does seem to stir up a lot on Dalnet, but I think many of the people on Dalnet were there simply to get some feeling of power. When a channel manager added somebody else to the op list, those existing ops just took it like a big hit to their ego, and so they went a little nuts.

That happens on all IRC networks though (although, not in all channels!), just like it happens on many forums. I've seen many many forums where the moderators are just a group of buddies and shun new visitors to the sites - thank GOD that's not the case here, I've never felt so welcome on a site in my life as I have here.

I am a IRC junky! I run four RPG channels on sorcery and am common on many more! My user name is Xirin so if ya see me around, make sure to say hi. Also if Ozzu wants a channel I can host one! I got a nice connection and a nice bot. Tell me what you think!

I am hanging on irc.quakenet.org - wich I have been doing for some years now.. I have been playing cs, and become in some way famous because of that. I would say I am well known on quakenet.
