Finally I've come back to life, after a few days condemned to horrible death: no internet. Our cable got cut off for a few days. It was a disaster. I'm pretty you all would agree with me on this: without internet it's like you're trapped from the outside world. Having internet again is like a resurrection, lol. And guess what? First thing I did wasn't checking my emails but going straight to ozzu.com.

Anyways, I didn't want to make a spam/rant post here so i'd ask how you guys feel about living a day or two without internet?

I'm still wondering how I'm going to survive the summer with only a 56K dialup from out in the boonies. Nine months of broadband has spoiled me.

i agree with musik, I am on the net too much and sometimes im like what the hell am i doing stuck inside sat at this poota when it is a beautiful day.

It can be a bit of a chore sometimes, searching through all the junk emails, checking other bits n bobs, updating sites, doing sites 4 other people, etc.

Thank god for ozzu, with out it tasks could take so much longer!

With out the net i think i would be pretty gutted however it might be good and give me more time to catch up with friends and socialise! (and have fun!)

Having said that of course there was a time when the internet played a huge part in my life as my main source of contact with the world, however I am really glad I was able to ween myself off it and persue friendships and activities away from the computer. I use it all the time for work so its nice to have other interests too for a break :)

(ps: im not putting the net down for friendships etc because ive made some FAB friends through it and also met the love of my life through it so its useful too ;))

too long, I am at work at the mo and i my job mostly involves sitting at a computer (i do hardly any work as i just look on the net all day)

I spend quite a few hours on the net in the evenings, however when its nice weather like today i try and get out more in the sun, us british people have got to make the most of the sun as it dont last as long as we would like it to.

Winter time is a different story as if its peeing down with rain i would rather be indoors at the poota or in front of the telly.

The longest I've ever gone was 3 weeks when my computer was classed as Dead on Arrival when we got our new one and the idiots were trying to scam us out of replacing it!
My God, I never want to live like that AGAIN

*shrugs*

I could live. It would be a little annoying not having ready access to e-mail, since that's how I communicate with my family most of the time. Obviously, it's a requirement for me at work, but at home, I could find other things to do pretty easily. I'm not sure how I would handle doing any freelance work I might have in the mix... but I could probably figure something out.

It's a little bit strange to think, given my line of work, but I really am sort of a ludite at heart. I should go going the lead pencil club =]

.c

*Edit:
I like this quote, but the way, credited to the founder of the LPC:
"We will have raced at incredible speeds on the information superhighway to reach our final destination: Nothing."

I don't know how you could live without it, I've made many life long friends on here and I'd go insane round the house if I couldn't speak to them.
You're very lucky!

I try not to be online a lot now days or not as much as I have in the past. I used to play everquest and was very addicted to it for almost 3 years and when I was I think I spent all of my free time online. One good thing from it is I did make some very good online friends but I do sometimes feel like I lost part of my life from playing so much. now days I do some chatting and will always use e mail. I dont think I would like going without the internet but I know I can never be addicted to anything like I was that game, that was so bad for me (ok i still have days where i miss playing)

I am almost done with my second year of college for betworking so I kind of plan to work with computers for a long time but I have learned to pull myself away and go enjoy other things.

I can't live without it, that's for sure.
But I try to spend my vacations (and a few week-ends) with no computer at all. Getting back to the keyboard & mouse is simply great after that

I have dialup at home, and I'm spending a week at someone else's house with sympatico high speed. It's really a change! I'm using it when ever they're not. I found this forum a couple of days ago, and it's all I've been doing at since. I might get sympatico high speed when I get back home. I hope so because dialup takes my phone line and is sooo incredably slow, it's unbelievable.

well here is my story..
i think the internet is as good as it is bad..
i had great experiance on it sure but also bad .. past experiance that i dont like to discus.. sure i seen the ugly and and the nice end.. seen it all .. dont wanna see it again..
but yea the internet was where i met my love ... but also lost.. my love. horreble but i think i found another don't know if i can put myself into the love again still kinda shaking from last time..
anyways..
what i see as good things is the service and comunication and sharing .. sharing is also a bad thing tho.. and comunication can be.. trickky.. considdering the bad ppl in the world.. so we got good and bad..
but personaly right now im enjoyng it alot :]

tho .. being here is killin my back i gota get moving and stuff..
if i didn have the net ? .. id be drawing .. painting some figures.. lissenin to music and maby make some..

and every summer i go back to iceland to meet up with old pals and half of the famely ... and thats about .. 2 mounths or more..
and i get to the internet maby 2 - 3 times... if i want to < : p
being off is stress realiving.. being on is enjoying.. : s
the end : p
