Can someone explain to me how a dictator called Robert Mugabe can con his way through an election and somehow sign a joint leadership agreement with his main opposition?

Today it was officially done and at the ceremony in Harare they all looked happy and shook hands. At one point his opposition was living in a foreign embassy fearing for his life thanks to Mugabe...what's happening?

All elitists eventually become corrupt. That's how.

My anut and uncle live in Zim ... it's actually quite terrible, not being racist, but they are some of the only white people that still remain in Zim, because racism has swung the other way there, all the farms of the farmers have beeen taken away from them by the government and given to normal folk that know nothing about farming ... And the thing is, Mugabe is so high up and so powerful in that place, he is untouchable, if someone doesn't agree with his ways, he'll make sure they stay quiet or get made to stay quiet ...

If we look at it scientifically, do we have enough data to support a hypothesis that once you make it to the top, you realize that everyone is corrupt in some way shape or form, and you just do what everyone else is doing but with more leverage to do it ?

One doesn't have to believe that others are corrupt to become corrupt himself.
