The direction of the topic title and content made me think of the book title, but having never read the book I have no idea if it's related. 
School had me reading books like Hatchet and LOTR. It's been at least 10 years since I've read a novel, and considering the state of the US economy, now is probably a better time than any to get around to reading Of Mice and Men based on what Wikipedia has to say about it.
