We are looking for a script or a cms program to make a Mobile community website (like zedge.net or mobile9.com) where visitors can download free Wallpapers, Ringtone and so on...
The idea is that members can upload/download and share with each other.

If anyone know about a script or can give us some ideas on where to start looking, we would be grateful.

Thanks :D

That covers a lot of ground...

These things usually aren't a "hey do you have a script"... it's much more complex and many questions would have to be answered and then a system developed around that.

You need to figure out what Mobile Standard you are going to follow... even though there's not really a full-proof mass used one.

If your talking about iPhone apps for wallpapers, etc... your going to need a Cocoa specialist / Objective-C programmer and or a team that also knows how to incorporate web servers and databases with that mobile technology and Dev tools.

In short I'd say to do it well and cross mobile platform... your looking at atleast $15,000ish

Ohh sounds expensive...
This is the only way of developing a site like that?
Well then we have to go back in the "thinking box" and figure out a new way of doing this.

You don't need a Cocoa specialist - OP says nothing of an iPhone app, which is certainly not the same as a mobile-compatible site. There's no reason to develop an application for something that they would like to offer via browsers.

$15K is a ridiculous estimate for getting a mobile site developed, I mean, seriously?
I'd love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code.

Well, sounds better...

You think it's possible to take a video site/script where members can upload/download and share videos, pictures, audio and so on, and convert it to a mobile sharing site?

Why is $15K rediculous? The OP is wanting a social networking site on Mobile. HTML designers are a dime a dozen, but try to find a good mobile designer that knows what he's doing. And I think CE is probably closer to the mark than you think. My company spent a good bit more than 15k on a Flash site. I don't think that's all that unreasonable for a mobile networking site that is going to need database, admin CMS etc.

So... what you are saying, is that you have to invest around $15000 to get a site like that up and running? :?

I think pretty much CE/ Pyrocy hit it pretty much on the head, yes.

I still contend that you could get started on this for less - it all hangs on the complexity of the site that you're hoping to build and the level of expertise you pursue. If you want the next Twitter or FaceBook done by the very best you can find, then I can see it, but if you start with a leveled launch and iterate your features using a Jr. developer or hungry college kid, then you may get a bit more reasonable price up front and spread out your costs over time.

there are 2 sides to this... both are valid
Either way your looking at developing something that only a handful of people have enough knowledge to perform. Even if you got a jr dev kid str8 out of college... chances are that things aren't going to be setup properly and when changes are desired, the system might not cooperate and your gonna have to hire the guy that knows what he's doing.

Maybe not though... I know some really great designers that have come out of freshmen year haha, you just gotta find Paul Allen and Bill Gates before IBM does. ;)

P.S:

: Depends on the flash site... that 15k was probably spent on a really nice flash site - most likely with video integration and full php/xml/MySQL systems backing it. Either way... in order to restore the web artists glory days, I say we all raise are prices at once by atleast 50% :)

Interesting discussion on here. I agree that finding a script isn't all that tough but getting it modified to suit your requirements is tough nut to crack.
