These social networks are starting to look like restaurants and night clubs.

Quote:
Stumbling MySpace - at one point the most popular online hangout - plans to fire nearly 30% of its staff in response to falling ad sales and gains by rival Facebook.

Gee, they picked a nice, random number, didn't they? heh
I'd love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code.

Yeah an even 1,000 employees left is a nice easy number to keep track of. :D

Slightly off topic, but relevant:

Does anyone else find it really annoying that when they go to visit someones myspace page that they have all these fancy little animated gif backgrounds that repeat hundreds of times, and videos that play automatically, and a constant stream of music? This stuff slows down the speed that page will load, and with the butt loads of myspace pages being viewed at any given moment that hogs up a lot of internet bandwidth as a whole. Can you imagine how much more fun the internet would be without all that crap? The same goes for spam email, at my old job we would get nearly 1000 messages an hour incoming to our exchange server with about a hundred mailboxes, and according to our spam blocker only about 5-10% of them were legitimate emails on average. So without all the spam flying around the internet, things would run smoother and faster.

End rant.

I only went to myspace once when it was first becoming a fad, spent the next week taking viruses off of my computer. I guess that leaves a bad taste in someones mouth for those sites.
