Post 3+ Months Ago

Well our school does a drunk driving awareness thing every year, its called Every 15 Minutes. I've been assigned the task of creating the presentation and doing all the photography for it. I'm doing a mix of still shots with video for the presentation, my director wants some good music to go with it but I'm not sure of what to use. Currently we are using a song by Simple Plan called Unitled (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2lhkCQkhu8) I cant use that for my presentation because they are already going to be showing that video for another part of it. That song works perfectly, but I need another or two songs. I like the song Run by Snow Patrol (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Qen3Xovtfc) but I would love to hear if any of you have any suggestions of some music to play. The tone of the music needs to be kind of mellow, along the lines of either the Simple plan song or the Snow patrol one. Also the lyrics would need to have to deal with the subject.

So here is my cry out to all of you, the project is due Friday at 9:00 AM (This is not homework so you can help me lol) Just looking for suggestions.

Thanks!

I'd recommend using something a little less emo and a lot less cliche.

Let me see what I can dig up tonight.

Hurt by 9 inch nails comes to mind, it's kind of dark and dreary and stuff.

Linkin Park - My December
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXYXOA80x0s

Vertical Horizon - Underwater
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qRt35H7iHo

3 Doors Down - This Time
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKG7nlKpNFY

Vertical Horizon - Goodbye Again
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYFEmVtIw6o

Anything from disc 2 of "In Your Honor" by the Foo Fighters, namely songs like "Over and Out" and "Still".

The Snow Patrol song you chose isn't bad either.

Wow there are so many options for this. I can see how it could be hard to find a song that you think is suitable for the video compilation.

Are you looking for mellow songs with lyrics or instrumentals with a mellow tone?

You could use so many different styles of music. Here's a list of some of the songs that I thought of off the top of my head. They are a little less mainstream than 'A Simple Plan' I think so I don't know if that's the way you want to go, but here they are anyway:

Keep in mind that these are all personal opinion and you may or may not like them.

Alternative Mellow Songs

1)Modest Mouse - Dramamine

2)Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - The Line

3)Interpol - Mind over Time

4)Devotchka - How it Ends

Intstrumentals

1)The Album Leaf - Red Eye

2)Moby - God Moving over the Face of Waters

Really Mellow

1)Jose Gonzalez - Save Your Day

2)Youth Group - Forever Young

I only wish i could figure out this problem on my comp so i can hear some of these songs.

Pretty much most of the songs by Snow Patrol on the album that has "Run" should do.

Songs like "Fake Plastic Trees" by Radiohead. "In the waiting line" by Zero 7 (uber mellow) is another good one.

If you are looking for a mellow-ish and positive live, then you might look into a song by Brett Dennon. I'll listen to the two albumes I have and see if any apply to your subject.

it's really sad. I feel sad now. it is more to like pictures flipping page by page. Is that called a video? No offense, just wondering...

And most of the individual photos were very good-looking people, i wonder if they were all victims of accident?

Sorry to hear this, and this is a video i'd give 7.5 stars / 10.

Its suppose to be more of a slide show, but we wanted it in a video format. Also there was some video :)

The kids in the video did not die from a drunk driving accident, they volunteered to take a oath of silence for one day. During the day we removed them from classes and read an obituary to the class. They also didn't get to go home that might. We keeped them in a hotel over night so that their family's had to go through he same experience. Two family's had officers come to their houses and tell them that their child had died in a car accident. Their family's wrote a letter that they would present to the entire senior class.

At the end you saw a name, in memory of..., that girl was killed by a drunk driver two years ago. The car we use (We have it out in our court yard) is her car. Also her mother presents a speech every year at the assembly.

Great vid/slideshow. 5/5 in my opinion,

I see you put some effort in it and I hope it got some people thinking about the possible aftermath of drunk driving.

Thanks for posting.
