New TLD question

Hey everyone ....

First off id like to say that this is not Advertising or spam, i seriously am looking for some good feedback

I recently was looking for a good domain to regester for my web hosting directory and was very suprised
that webhostingreview.ca was available..

now it just may be me but how or why was this domain overlooked?
Yes i know its a .ca domain but i do however live in canada so i dont see the downside...

I also asked my regestrar if there was any diff or downside to a .ca domain next to a .com site.
I was told that .ca are primarily targeted for Canadian surfers but its still just as valuable as a .com .
with search engines.

so just curious as to what u people think about this domain and wether it is a good or bad domain?

If you wanna go for it then go ahead.

Not sure what interest it would have for anyone outside Canada unless of course the content is of interest to anyone who visits the site.

I personally have no reason to visit any .ca websites or .us sites unless the content is sort of universal. If you can provide content that you would find on a .com site and not aim it at a Canadian Audience and kinda make that clear in the design and content then you could have some success with it.

that's very true; .ca would be of more interest for canadian visitor,
rest of the world would ignore you if your site doesn't have good/useful content and is not at top SE.

I would only grab a secondary TLD if the website becomes successful. Well I would grab it 3 days before it becomes successful. Of course we would love to say that every website we make will be successful but that isn't always the case.

well i took the plunge and purchased it and its been up for only a week or so.

I am suprised at the amount of traffic its recienving, Its amazing.

This week along iv hit over 10,000 Unique visitors.

Anouther thing is i have not had a single web host sign up that is based within canada.
Its all american and even a couple in africa.

Just like you guys i thought that it would be primarily be canadain web hosts that would be interested in listing there business.

I even have Siteground sign up which suprised me since there a PR 8 site and well known host at that.
But who am i to complane right

I emaild a few of my higher Google PageRank web host's and offerd site wide advertising for a single text link
on there main index page.

Now i have a some great backlingks some PR6 and 7 even one PR 8 pointing to me Lol

Now i just need a google Backlink update, and i will be all set.
