Opera 10.5 looks like it's ready to go.

Here's a few things I've noticed right off the bat.

  • There's no "file", "view", "edit", etc bar anymore (I actually had to go to appearance->buttons to find the new red "O" button that replaces it)
  • Javascript speed is significantly faster, I don't get a 30 second lockup on the new Adsense interface anymore
  • border-radius and friends works now, letting me define rounded corners with CSS
  • There's private mode, seems to work similar to the thing IE has
  • Pages render much faster. I'm browsing my usual pages but my brain is saying Hey wait for me! as I go through them

Here's a complete changelog (Windows)
http://www.opera.com/docs/changelogs/windows/1050/

// Edit -- So much for the new Adsense UI working in Opera 10.5; At least before when it locked up for 30 seconds it displayed the right information. Now it shows me details that aren't sorted correctly. Hell, I'm not even sure it's displaying the right details in the correct columns. Looks like I have to keep going out of my way top open Firefox or IE when I want to use Adsense.

// Edit -- Looks like it's going to be awhile on the Linux version.

Looks a lot like Chrome, I think.

The only thing I don't like so far is the status bar constantly growing and shrinking when rolling over links.

Still my default browser.

Yeah Chrome was the first thing I thought about when I noticed the default skins missing title bar. I had to switch to the native windows skin though because there's some sort of strange bug where a white stripe covers all of my tab titles forcing me to hover over everything to see what's there on my system.

Incidentally, Adsense looks fine for me (Vista).

The rounded corners on my own site still don't show up though (must be doing it wrong).

Here's how I've been using round corners. It started working without any changes for me with this release of Opera.

CSS Code: [ Select ]
/* roudned left side */
#sidebar h6, #sidebar a:hover, #sidebar a.current-cat
{border-top-left-radius:8px; border-bottom-left-radius:8px; -moz-border-radius-topleft:8px; -moz-border-radius-bottomleft:8px; -webkit-border-top-left-radius:8px; -webkit-border-bottom-left-radius:8px;}

/* rounded bottom */
#management-bar div, .round-bottom
{border-bottom-left-radius:8px; border-bottom-right-radius:8px; -moz-border-radius-bottomleft:8px; -moz-border-radius-bottomright:8px; -webkit-border-bottom-left-radius:8px; -webkit-border-bottom-right-radius:8px;}

/* totally rounded */
fieldset, legend, .success, .error, .info, .pagination a, .wallpaper-block, .wallpaper-block h3, .toolbar,
.hierarchy div
{border-radius:8px; -moz-border-radius:8px; -webkit-border-radius:8px;}
  1. /* roudned left side */
  2. #sidebar h6, #sidebar a:hover, #sidebar a.current-cat
  3. {border-top-left-radius:8px; border-bottom-left-radius:8px; -moz-border-radius-topleft:8px; -moz-border-radius-bottomleft:8px; -webkit-border-top-left-radius:8px; -webkit-border-bottom-left-radius:8px;}
  4.
  5. /* rounded bottom */
  6. #management-bar div, .round-bottom
  7. {border-bottom-left-radius:8px; border-bottom-right-radius:8px; -moz-border-radius-bottomleft:8px; -moz-border-radius-bottomright:8px; -webkit-border-bottom-left-radius:8px; -webkit-border-bottom-right-radius:8px;}
  8.
  9. /* totally rounded */
  10. fieldset, legend, .success, .error, .info, .pagination a, .wallpaper-block, .wallpaper-block h3, .toolbar,
  11. .hierarchy div
  12. {border-radius:8px; -moz-border-radius:8px; -webkit-border-radius:8px;}

Ah, thanks. It's working now, after a little tweak. I had the various bits in the wrong order (border-radius-top-right).

I like how it handles the ssl certificate mismatches far better than firefox, and it looks better than IE's.

There are a lot of little irritating quirks with Operas rendering, most notable for me are the ones with Googles Adsense and Adwords management interfaces. I like to think I notice them more than I do with other browsers because I use Opera more than other browsers.

Looks good! Well I mostly use FF 2.0.0.20. for web surfing. Newest versions of Opera for testings, and IE 6.0 but only to browse my own sites.
