Is there a law or just good etiquette that says you aren't supposed to post a link to a website on your site without the permission of the target site? Thanks for any help!

I don't understand what you mean.

You don't want people posting links to your website? from other website?

I have not heard of. Why not, just let them post and you gain more links to your site and rank higher in search engine.

Just send them a message saying you don't want them to.

Not in America there's not.

I think there's a handfull of laws that apply to specific situations, but in a general sense you can pretty much chalk it up to Freedom Of Speech.

That's what I figured but wanted to make sure. We have an insurance website and want to post links to the companies we deal with and I wondered if I had to contact all of them and get their permission first. This makes it a lot easier. Thanks for the help!!!
