A man is stuck in a stone cave. The only way to get out is if he gets a ping pong ball out of a steel pipe that is cemented 3 feet into the ground. He has nothing with him except a hairdryer and a basket ball. How does he get the pingpong ball?

I have heard this before. Cant think of the answer though. But what does it matter? Why does it matter if he gets the damn pingpong ball or not?
