A man is stuck in a stone cave. The only way to get out is if he gets a ping pong ball out of a steel pipe that is cemented 3 feet into the ground. He has nothing with him except a hairdryer and a basket ball. How does he get the pingpong ball?

he popped a hole in the basketball and squeezed the air into the pipe, forcing the air behind the ping pong ball and making it come out of the pipe.

He popped the basketball and ripped it into strips, then weaved a basket out of it and tied the end of the hair dryer to it. then used it as a scope to pick the ping pong ball out of the bottom of the pipe.

The only other thing I can think of is he peed in the tube, and the ping pong ball floated up. What he did with the hair dryer and basketball are none of your business

You know that state of mind you're in when you are first waking up and your subconcious is still communicating with you on that higher level? Well when I woke up this morning the word that was in my mind was "dribble" I did a little lateral thinking and came up with this.

I think the guy found him self in quite a jam, so he did what any good basketball player would do and picked up the basketball and dribbled his way out of it.

(I doubt that's the correct answer, but I think I'm on the right track - I'm gonna really be freaked if I'm right).

I know this is old, but I was doing some cleaning and came across this thread only to find a discrepancy.

My first thought was to pee in the tube as well, but since it wouldn't be any fun trying other methods with a tube full of pee I decided to do some math.

From what I can find online, the average male bladder is around 400 milliliters. If you hold it as long as possible you might get 500.

International rules put the diameter of a ping pong ball at 40mm, giving us a radius of 20mm. 3 feet is 914.4 millimeters.

Assuming the pipe is just large enough to fit the ping pong ball, the best case scenario, that gives us a volume of 1149531.4285714275 cubic millimetres for the three foot deep ping pong ball sized tube.

That means the tube can hold roughly 1150 milliliters, meaning that even if you held it until you couldn't anymore, you'ld only fill the tube less than half-way.

There's also nothing that says the tube has a uniform radius along its entire length -- it could be wide enough at the top to fit the ping pong ball but only a centimeter wide the rest of the length :D

Yes but it can run right thru from the kidneys meaning there is more room than that. I have on at least a couple of occasions, to my chagrin, reached the top while "refilling" a 22oz bottle. Which is why it is safest to always drink widemouth 40's :P

I don't think you'd have to fill the tube. Just get enough in to float it out the other end. Which once it is afloat (presuming a horizontal tube), a hair dryer has a fan in it. You could take the fan out and use it to create wind, sailing the PP ball out. A yo-yo would have been a great addition to that tool kit, but sometimes "you can't always get what you want".

Note to self: Drink massive amount of beer while spelunking. Secondly, bring label for tube as to not forget: "Break seal here to float ping pong ball." Will need lots of fluids to accomplish task. Bring other recreational drugs, too, because even MacGyver is going to laugh at you for trying to escape a cave with a ping pong ball, a basketball, and a hairdryer. You'll need your creative side in FULL swing.

As for IQ's, the whole test is bogus. Why people brag about them I don't know, I guess they feel inferior and have to have something to show for it..... kinda like a college deploma. :P

Alright, assuming we now have our ping pong ball covered in urine and we've pretty much disposed of every bit of fluid we have to survive on, what do we do now ?

It's like on big brother, the ..... puts his arm in the box to get 10,000 and it gets locked in while the 10,000 falls outside and the other houseguests run around picking it up, he yells for help that they have ot find a key, but lies and says "to keep the money".

I would have left him up there.. what a gimp.
