I stumbled across a game for Linux ages ago that looked really cool, it had online play and the concept was similar to quake 3.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I want to play it!

Are you talking about America's Army? It's formatted to play on Linux.

Try it out: http://www.americasarmy.com

I play americas army, or used to. Good game. I personally like playing Unreal better, but its nice to switch back and forth between the two. :)

Good news ppl! Found it after a good 30minutes of hunting!

Its called 'Cube' and a review with amazing screenshots is here:

Haven't had the chance to try it yet because my Geforce drivers ain't working right, but I'll let you's know when I do.

I've never played Americas Army, I don't think it would be a big hit in the UK with a name like that. I've seen some screenshots and the graphics look very impressive.

hmm, lot of potential there, especially when he plans on adding shaders to it.

I like the wysiwyg map maker.

I will check it out. But I am wondering just how good it could be if the file size is 8mb.

Yeh true, the review said the designer / coder wanted to keep things simple and the 8mb could suggest this. I like the idea of the map making too, sounds a bit different. If the engine is half good then its got potential for many more great 3D linux games and that ofcourse means free games (well, most likely).

Hopefully get to try it tomorrow.
