how do I go about getting my website copywritten? Does it cost?

even tho you can do all that, you as the owner and artist own the
copyright no matter what. It's the same as a photographer, a painter,
a musician, etc....

It's just better for you in court, should it come to that, if you've
registered
your work with the gov't.

yes exactly my point, yes it is true you have the assumed copyright, however, what if your website name was http://www.polyfart.com and there was a small mom and pop company selling fart machines with that name and decided to sue you for the domain name. with a legal copyright, you can tell them to buzz off... with out you might be ina long drawn out battle with them...
