5 Reasons Zune HD will contend with iPod

I think it's exceedingly improbable that Zune will get there, features or no. Not impossible, just very unlikely.

I'm in agreement with you. Even if they pulled out show-stopping features, they've got a bad reputation on the Zune to contend with. Maybe rebranding could have helped, but I just don't know how they can overcome the damage they've already done.

I liked the Zune commercials. I thought they were pretty catchy. The last thing they made me think was "Hey I need to go buy a Zune", but they were cool looking. Microsoft is great at reminding us that while you can't polish a turd, you can sure as hell make it shine. Even if only for a moment.

I think Microsoft needs to move some of their advertising budget over into the stealing-people-Apple-is-considering-hiring-with-higher-salaries budget.
