A new service is coming to Twitter that will allow users to place short phone calls. @call is the name of the service that JaJah is bringing to Twitter today in beta. If you're interested in how it'll work, here's the jist:

Quote:
Jajah says its service will work whether you're using Twitter directly via its site or are logged on using a third-party client like Seesmic. Jajah says you'll even be able to make calls when using Twitter clients like Tweetie and TwitterBerry on your smartphone.

To place a call via Twitter, you and the person you are calling must be Twitter users and Jajah users (you can sign up for both services for free). The person you want to call must be following you on Twitter, and you both have to sign up for the @call beta.

What is this 'phone' that you speak of? You say you can place calls on some device that doesn't utilize VoIP? That's preposterous. SURELY we wouldn't be trying so hard to reinvent the wheel if it were THAT easy...would we?

Agreed. Whoever it was that invented such a silly thing is a freaking genius. Why is it that the stupidest ideas are always the most popular?

Can you imagine what it would be like if nobody reinvented the wheel now and then ?

A Cadillac with wooden wagon wheels on it would just look silly !

Yea, but that was an upgrade. Only short phone calls? What's wrong with Skype?

Can you imagine how bumpy of a ride that would be and how noisy it would be riding down an old cobble stone street in Europe?

haha pretty bad. At least there's some suspension to help out now. I can't imagine doing it in the old days where you likely didn't have roads in the first place.
