The internet will be the same internet, its just the devices connected to it will be identified differently. There is that Web2.0, which is more of a philosophy or an idea than an actual thing.

I2 has been around for a while now. It's a separate, high-speed network for use by educational institutions.

Our university has I2 access, and I've never used it or even had a need for it.

Like clay aiken?
No.

Its just higher bandwidth areas, the big "jump" never happened, and it isn't directly related to ipv6

Isn't it possible to still use both v4 and v 6 provided the ip is routed correctly by the host? my understading is that the nodes will still get the traffic through.

I have fixed IP's routed to my home server so I guess I'll be affected but my ISP hasn't said anything about an update.

Should I be worried?

If you'd like you can find out all there is to know about IPv6 at the website.

Web 2.0 is all about using a single style sheet, which is held in your website, and instead of using html to code a whole page, or to make a new style sheet for every webpage, you just reference back to the original style sheet. It makes for much MUCH cleaner html. I'm pretty sure ebay uses web2.0. But yeah, it's more a way of doing something than an actual thing.

I think we got on web 2.0 when somebody mentioned internet 2.

This web 2.0 thing though, you'll ask 10 people what it is and you'll get 10 different answers.

Especially with people advocating this whole "single style-sheet" babble.

I believe ICANN has already begun assigning IPv6 addresses to many telecoms and companies around the world. It's already in motion and should have no effect on the residential user yet.
