Should I explain this with the theory of Yin & Yang?

Quote:
p -> q

~p -> ~q
q -> p

I've been thinking of this, I try to make it logical. Is it beyond logic in mathematics?

***Assume for the above equation***

p = I'm your friend
q = you're my friend

If I'm your friend, then you're my friend

is NOT equivalent to

If I'm not your friend, then you're not my friend

which is equivalent to

If you're my friend, then I'm your friend

Question is What's the difference between:

If I'm your friend, then you're my friend
with
If you're my friend, then I'm your friend

I conclude that it's because Yin and Yang?

I do a lot of internal martial arts. Yin is absorbing chi, yang is expelling chi. You comparison could be correct only if I have to expel chi to be your friend.

They are two entirely different implications.

Let's let
p = It will rain today
q = I will bring my umbrella

p -> q means "p implies q", meaning "if p is true, then q is true"
If it will rain today, I will bring my umbrella.

q -> p means "q implies p", meaning "if q is true, then p is true"
If I bring my umbrella, it will rain today.

The two are not the same and thus aren't equivalent. I think you might be confusing them with double implication:

p <-> q means "p if and only if q", meaning "p is true whenever q is true, and vice versa".
I will bring my umbrella if and only if it will rain today.

See, boolean logic is fun! :D

p = Not a fan of this thread
q = won't open this thread again

p + q = ME :)

Not a fan of this thread Plus Won't open this thread again Equals jflynn

So... does that mean if someone doesn't like this thread and won't open again they get jflynn?

No, it means that if someone else doesn't like the thread and won't open it again, jflynn could be his friend but it doesn't mean that he will be a friend of jflynn. At the same time, if another person doesn't like the thread but still might open it again just to see what else has been said, then jflynn might not want to be his friend and wouldn't care if he wanted to be a friend of jflynn. In any case, I think if there are a lot of replies, jflynn might absorb more chi using his yin form and open the thread again.
