Hi,

Anyone has a clue how a smart card and a card reader arrive at a state of shared secret? I am talking about the very first stage. I've read lots of books and all they'r saying is "AFTER the shared secret is obtained, then blah blah blah...".

I presume the shared secret is the public key, so how exactly does the card get the reader's public key and vice versa? Is it the PKI model again? So there'll be a CA and some certificates?

Here is a college student very desperate for some help. So if you do know how it works, plzzzzzzzz do drop a few lines here. Thanz !!

Franky
