What a night.

Been to a birthday party tonight. What a great party. So good that Jack Daniels is doing my typing for me. He don't do to bad with the keyboarding skillz. Har har har.

My Cowboys got waxed. Ouch. Oh well, better than last year.

Oh yeah, here's thp point. Nasa's Spirit rover made it to Mars and called home. Yay!!!. It's amazing what you can do with a few hunny million dollars.

I'm a bit of a space junkie. Anyway here's the link:

Touchdown! And the crowd goes wild.....

I'm a bit of a space junkie myself. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Cassini makes it to Saturn without any glitches.

ahhhh, thank you Musik! No need though. I ate and digested some food before I fell asleep, so I'm good as gold this morning. Whew!

Jack and water is my drink, and it rarely does me wrong. (:

Wow! Neither my wife, or I, realized how badly we needed to get out of the house for a night. What a nice change of pace. All you parents out there can sympathize, I'm sure.

So yeah, Spirit beat the odds and made it. Very very cool considering the history of sending craft to Mars. Especially on the heals of Beagle 2.

It's Opportunity's turn next (Jan. 24). Here's a better link:

Woo, that's awesome! I wonder if they'll be able to last the full 90 days of exploration, though. :-/

//Oh, and "sleep is for pansies" doesn't count passing out because it's generally involuntary!

RichB: I've been watching that one too. Some exciting stuff going on this year. The next couple years actually.

Geekette: Thank you! I'll consider you the authority of pansy activity in the future. :D

that is seriously one of the most exciting things in our lifetime!
I wish it would get as much publicity as it deserves, because
this is clearly a major milestone for NASA and space exploration.

I was reading the article here as well --

The Beagle II is British. A big hint to that is that it was named after the ship that Charles Darwin explored the world in.

I'm speaking without researching it here, but my understanding was that the rover itself was British and the delivery vehicle was from one of the European agencies.

If any of you are curious to how they were able to get the Spirit Rover to Mars, and how they were able to get it to the planets surface, check this out:

I think it is quite amazing how they do this.

oooooo that was sweet. My favorites are the external vids from the launch vehicles, but that's got to be on of the best produced segments to ever come from NASA.
