Please help! I have a stalker (not online, until now). I know who this person is, and I am positive that they are accessing my yahoo email and gaining info on me. They have come up with a lot of info that has only been in my email. Things from family who would never speak to my stalker. In order for me to get the police to help me I need proof. How do I find out by whom and where my email is being accessed? I'm a rookie on this programming stuff...need some help please! This person is very dangerous, and I would greatly appreciate as much info as you can offer!

It sounds llike you know this person. If thats true, he/she may have guessed your password, especially if it is something easy (ie a pets name or birthday). First thing I would do is change your password. Use something that cant be guessed, make it a mix of upper and lower case, as well as numbers and symbols.

I don't think there is anyway you can find out where your email has been logged in from(aside from the police subpoenaing the info from Yahoo).

If you truly feel this person is dangerous, I would go talk to the police and at the least have a restraining order placed upon them.

Definitely change your password immediately! Make sure it's a combination of letters and numbers and make it longer than usual ... if possible. Also, make sure you dont download any spyware from spam ads on your computer (you havent won anything free! haha) ... people can grab your passwords and stuff that way too via remote servers. I would assume with your Yahoo that it is someone you know messing with you ... I would maybe even go as far as changing your e-mail addy completely

yahoo has logs of what ip accessed what account, but will give that info only to authorities. If a complaint with police is made, that info may be gained.

If the ISP's help with the finding who has that IP is another story. But at least they would know if someone else was snooping.

If you are on the same isp as that other person, it would get difficult.

Make another email account send it to the one you think he or she is in and make a very very tempting link they will click it (maybe more info on you or something…) and just have the link grab the IP and log the time and IP, little bit of code but you'll find out if he really is using it.. use http://www.dnsstuff.com to see where the IP is from

personally CHANGE THE PASSWORD lol

Don't use the same password everywhere.
Some people tend to do that in order to remember their password. They use the same password on websites, forums, emails, online banking, etc...
If you ever piss off anyone at a website where you register, he can take your password and access your email inbox.
