I just found this nifty little resource that I think is worthy of keeping an eye on.
http://www.stopforumspam.com/

They first of all list over 229,000 known forum spambots including username, email address and IP. And they are current as of even today. I just caught a bot sign up at my forum and found this place by searching the email address of the bot.

This site was created to be used as a central database for known forum spambots. I hope it proves useful to you, the administrator of an online forum when trying to find information about questionable registrations.

Lots is planned for the future of this site. We hope to offer tools and new ways of exposing our data, including SQL files you can use with phpBB, SMF, and more.

I just downloaded the SQL commands for phpbb banned names, IP's and Emails

It's generated on the fly and is current as of the time you download it, unfortunately it's for phpbb2 and only allows an insert and doesn't provide for updates. Would take quite a bit of rewrite to make it actually functional (it's an 8.5MB file).

Yeah, I've used that SQL file on a phpbb site before. Unfortunately, it broke some functionality of phpbb - I think because it was an older version of the software. One thing it broke was new user signups... so it really did cut down on spammy users signing up -- and all others!

Haven't tried it since updating the newer versions of phpbb, haven't had enough trouble with spammers for it to be worth it. They're all low-traffic boards with manual account activation.

Must be adventurous for you to catch that bot, eh.
Just like in the movies. LOL
