I am not a big sports person but why is it that Turkey and Football go together so good?

Because turkey is awesome, and football is awesome. So combining both of these awesome things, makes it the most awesomest (my word!) day! Besides Christmas.

The only downside to thanksgiving is the parades...man I hate them. Good for putting you to sleep after you eat though ;)

it's definitely my favorite holiday as well. It's the simplest of all the
holidays, and as stated before, it encompasses so many of the best
things in life: food, family, and football!

What more could you ask for?

are you for serious rose?

basically, it's a very old tradition (in terms of USA) that celebrates thanks.
The story goes, that some of the original settlers of this continent,
Pilgrims, had a huge feast with some of the Indian Natives giving thanks
to all they had accomplished and become in the New World.

The date is never the same, it's simply always the last Thurs of
November.

The fourth Thursday of November, observed as a legal holiday in the United States to commemorate the feast held at Plymouth in 1621 by the Pilgrim colonists and members of the Wampanoag people and marked by the giving of thanks to God for harvest and health.

These days it is marked by the consumption of mass quantities of turkey with one's family and the watching of football. :D

both my parents are working tomorrow and I'll be spending the day wiht
the wifey's family instead. Usually we split the day, but tomorrow is a
one-stop day for once. Kinda relieved, although i won't get to see my
parents for the first time on thanksgiving.
