I thought this was a cool video to see:

At first I thought it was real, but now I am seeing that this video may have been faked, plus I am not seeing it on the NASA website. Could have fooled me though, would be curious to know for sure if someone has time to dig into it more.

Some more information, apparently this was posted on a twitter feed here:

http://twitter.com/MarsCuriosity

and is showing up at CNN on their blog here:

http://lightyears.blogs.cnn.com/2012/08 ... and-in-hd/

Still some of the comments in the Youtube comments is indicating it could be a hoax, but I am unsure still.

Thoughts?

I think I found the official video here:

http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl/multimedia ... x.cfm?v=81

Not sure if that Youtube one is somehow extracted from this, but the real video from Nasa is 3 minutes long. The one above is only 50 seconds. You can see the high resolution version of this video at:

http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/multimedia/vid ... n-1280.mov

That for sure is a reliable source, and has sounds too.

hhmm just think if this person spent their time doing something useful apart from staring at the decided NASA application. could of done something better with time. lolol

Even if it was fake, being able to do these types of things within 100 years of finding the technology to be able to sustain weight within air. i think we are doing a dam great job lol

They have spent a lot of money on this and previous missions to Mars. The technological advances are great but you have to ask whether the funds could be better spent on other projects. If there was life on that planet we would probably know about it by now.

well they just need to find a water based cell's and they have got it. But main reason they are doing this is for when we screw earth, we need a plan B and that is the best chances being a half livable open planet but can only survive with basic resources like water.
