Have you ever looked at the example text in TTF font files and wondered why most, if not all, of them include the phrase "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" ?

Well, let's see what happens if I remove all of the spaces in the sentence, remove all of the duplicate letters in the sentence, and then sort the letters alphabetically.

Code: [ Select ]
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

Apparently the phrase "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" contains all of the letters in the alphabet and is an actual sentence. Making it a good sentence to include for displaying font previews. I'm guessing it's also the shortest complete sentence that can be written using all of the letters in the alphabet, can anyone think of a shorter sentence ? :D

There is another sentence but I don't remember it. If it's shorter, it can't be by much.

PACK MY BOX WITH FIVE DOZEN LIQUOR JUGS (32 letters compared to 35 in the other)

//both sentences are called Pangrams in case anyone is interested.

I found a list of pangrams in every language I've ever heard of. :D

It's looking like the closer you get to 30 or fewer characters, the less sense the pangram makes.

I find the quick brown fox... the easiest mind I still think using the Lorem Ipsum is better because if you use the quick brown fox you get something like
the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
...etc

you get lots of lines of text with is not how real text will look.

@tastysite - that is not the function of this sentence, it is not intended as dummy-text for websites, it is intended for font previews. So when previewing a font, you can read a sentence which contains each alphabet character.
