My Mom stumbled upon this web page (not the Firefox plugin…. addicts) called The Sheep Market. It contains 10,000 drawings of sheep facing left. Why left I don’t know.

Quote:
Amazon’s Mechanical Turk is a system for getting people to do small tasks via an API for small amounts of money. The Sheep Market is perhaps the most interesting application based on MTurk. Whereas most Human Intelligence Tasks (or HITs) are about data verification, this task involved drawing a sheep. 10,000 sheep in total were accepted, arranged on his site and then offered for sale. Aaron Koblin, the creator of the Sheep Market, has written his thesis (Word doc)about the experience.

I don't think i can really imagine what someone would have to type into google to find that.

People will try anything.

I found a right facing one!!!!

I think it's because most people are right handed and when children draw animals like sheep they place the heads on the left. If you went to draw a sheep you would too probably >.<

I found a sheep in a space ship and a sheep hidden inside a box.

Seriously.......why????? It's cute, but I don't get it.

Did you guys also notice on each one you can pay $20 to get a plate block of stamps. I wonder if many people buy that sort of stuff.

I bet there are many more crazy people out there and not only the ones who made the site... probably they have made some income off of that. I must say though... WEIRD!!

the sheep in a box is possibly linked to a children's book called The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint Exupéry (or some similarly improbable spelling). Lovely little book. And it makes the sheep in the box make sense :D

otherwisely, it's true... I think if I were asked to draw a sheep its head would probably end up on the left......... funny that, you'd think it's random somehow.
