Hi Everyone,

I'm new to blogging and I've definitely made a few mistakes... so I'm curious, what is the worst mistake you have made? How did you fix it?

Or

What's the most important thing you know now that you didn't know when you started? - What would you do over?

Thanks,
Carl

My biggest mistake was talking too much.

My blog is mostly technical. The shorter my story about the situation is, the faster someone looking for answers can find what they're looking for and get the hell off my blog.
I now keep my posts short and sweet, and only place 3 on the front page.

Another mistake I made was screwing around with a bunch of widgets in my sidebar that after some monitoring I discovered next to nobody used anyway. The only reason I keep the archive there is search engines follow the links to other posts.

My biggest mistake was not knowing who my targeted audience is.

Thankyou George. :D

I had trouble finding my audience too George. Now that you mention that, and I think about it, if I hadn't talked soo much in the beginning I may have never found my audience.

Some of my most read recent posts were written because of the keywords I saw comming from search engines in my logs.
