Hello Mighty Techno Gurus!

I send out a newsletter every few months to stay in touch with the thousands of folks I know in the film industry.
I have an email extractor that somehow finds more email addresses than people I know.

I suspect, based on the amount of SPAM I get after sending out a newsletter, many of the addresses are embedded from SPAMers.

Also, when I ask Windows to search for an email address that bounced back, half the time, it can't find it.

This is REALLY annoying, and borders on scary.

Is there a program that will find ONLY the hidden email addresses and delete them from my Word and Excell files?

Preferably, one that's free. It's a slow year in the film industry. :-)
Thanks!

Explain your email extractor. Do you mean an email harvester?

I bought a program called "email Extractor".
I tell it what directories and files of mine to look through for email addresses.
It's faster than me compiling my own list and adding to it.

I'm not sure if this is an "email harvester" or not.

When it's done, it puts all the "valid" email addresses in one .txt file and the "bad" or invalid email addresses in another .txt file.

Make sense?

And THANK YOU for your help!!

So it checks for user@something.TLD type of validation, or it does a check to see if the domain is existent? Another thing is that if it validates that first bit, what if the person has a screwy email address, like a domain similar to ci.north-platte.ne.us? But if it did a DNS lookup on that domain it would find it is valid. Never mind, random rambling from me.

Don't mind your ramblings. :-)
Not sure how it works. Just know that it does.

I can't use my email extration program to find and nuke the embedded email addresses - which is what I'd like to do.

Do you know a program or method that will do this?

Please commence ramblings containing a solution. :-)

Thanks,
Diane
