So I think I found something that USPGuy hasn't posted already...

http://www.twitpocalypse.com/

Quote:
The Twitpocalypse is similar to the Y2K bug. Very soon the unique identifier associated to each tweet will exceed 2,147,483,6471

For some of your favorite third-party Twitter services not designed to handle such a case, the sequence will suddenly turn into negative numbers. At this point, they are very likely to malfunction or crash.

When will this happen? Check here often, and we will tell you how close we are to the Twitpocalypse2

My solution... unsigned ints.

I'm on the edge on my seat to see what this does to spam when 3rd party applications start going goofy.
Strong with this one, the sudo is.

Anyone see any twitter apps explode yet?

I've noticed one thing that might of been caused by it:

http://status.twitter.com/post/122606485/search-delay

Seems to have happened about the same time the 2,147,483,647 tweet occured.

1) First of all, who ever said those were actually numbers and not just strings of digits?

2) If they are numbers, just switch to strings. And up the base from 10.

3) Wait, I forgot, I don't care about Twitter.

Twitter doesn't have the problem, its the poorly programmed and design third party applications that use twitter as their source.
