If you saw a domain name on a television program or movie (as part of the movie/program script) which was not registered to anyone, would you snap it up?

I have just seen one and very tempted to give it a go just to take advantage of the people who may be curious to check the website out.

Well now, I can't give you an honest opinion about whether I would register the domain name without knowing what it is now, can I ?

the domain name is nothing, i would just redirect it to one of my other domains. To be honest, i don't really use my other sites so it would be pointless paying for the domain name.

It costs around 10 USD to register a domain or so right? 10 USD isn't that much to just see if you get any traffic from it. Hell I would probably just it and just through google analytics up on it and then have it redirect.

Here's what you do.

1) Buy the domain name.

2) Setup something funny/strange/etc that's at least somewhat related to the movie or show the domain name is used in. Think urban myth, or the hidden ding-a-lings in the Disney movie covers, though going the Disney route is probably a bad idea but you get the picture.

3) Start rumors that will have people watching the show/movie and looking for the domain name.

Well, there is likely to be a smallish audience. A few million in the UK which may decide to look it up despite it having another countries extension on it. However domain name has not really been mentioned alot and will no doubt be forgotton about already by some.

Pointless getting it if only for a few hundred people (if that).

Why would you buy craig.co.uk, hell, NOBODY knew about that when you bought it. At least with this new domain there's already a backstory you can tap into to promote it. :D
