For anyone that is not athletic like Michael Phelps, that is a heart attack waiting to happen.
Like Mr Spork, I also write about my interest in alcoholic beverages.

Wow, it makes you wonder how hard the training must be if they still look very athletic when they eat that regularly.

I personally wouldn't be able to do half of that.

jesus. I couldn't go through that amount of food if my life depended on it. Still, he probably spends 8-10 hours a day in different workouts - and seeing as an hour of strenuous exercise burns around 800 calories, you can see how he'd need all that food just to keep him running...

it's all maths really - what goes in minus what you expend.

They are just right now this second starting his final race, I wonder if he will get that last gold. Seriously, they just now started the race!

What an awesome kid. Eat your heart out! (pun intended). Congrats Phelps!

SB a swimmer's training is pretty intense. I swam competitively in high school and was in the water from 6AM until 8AM and then after school from 2:30PM to 5PM then lifted weights for another hour 5 days a week. I'm sure Phelps was in the water training at least 8 hours a day. My schedule and training had me swimming almost 5 miles a day. I can imagine his is at least double or triple that.

I remember eating large quantities of food back then too.

When you train as much as Phelps probably does, a caloric intake in the high thousands is most likely completely necessary.

Exactly - he'd just faint if he didn't eat that much. He certainly hasn't got any excess weight on him............ :D
