jameson - you spent some time in japan? work, study? long time? I lived in tokyo for a year and never recovered - I still miss it terribly. often have confused dreams where I'm trying to get to tokyo and a million things go wrong.....

SB - yep, English women speak all squeaky. I love the Aussie accent, sounds real relaxed somehow. Like Scottish and Irish accents as well.

Yeah, it's strange how you can get addicted to places...

I wasn't there for as long as you were. When I was 15 we had an exchange program between a Japanese high school and mine. While I was over there I lived with 4 families in 3 weeks. It was cool because I got to experience everything from a small farmhouse in the country with paper walls and scurrying rats to an ultra-modern four-story flat in Tokyo.

yeah, addiction is the right word.

four-story flat, wow!! I've mostly seen shoe-sized ones :D cool about the countryside though - I'd love to live in a japanese village for a while..... I'll have to find a way to go back at some point.

Yeah, Tokyo is awesome in a high-tech sort of way, but when you go north for a while and see those rolling green mountains it's absolutely amazing... and a bit terrifying if you're zooming along the mountain roads on the left side of the car, which to us Americans is supposed to be the driver's seat.

well we've been told :D sorry for the hijack... still if I wanted to nitpick I'd argue it was still vaguely on topic, what with discussing different countries one could go to........

Yeah, that's true. That was the moderator in me hinting towards avoiding the "chat" type posts. I understand how it all came about, but it did start to go towards the "how are you right now?" sort of conversation and more away from the topic itself or anything of similar topical interest.
