What is 5U form factor?

Can anyone tell me what is a 5U form factor tower is? I'm looking for a server and it has this option, but I don't know what this option is.

Any help is appreciated!

Searched the web for "5U form factor". Results 1 - 10 of about 598. Search took 0.27 seconds.

First one... Read the description of the computers on there and you will see that 5u factor form tower.

5U form factor describes how big a server is. The smallest I believe is 1U which is approximatley 1-2 inches high. In other words the server would not take up much space in height. So if you have a 5U server that would mean it would take up the space that five 1u servers would take up. The size of a server is important because usually colocation facilities will charge you for how much space you need in their facitlity. The larger your space requirement, the more you will have to pay to rent that space.

I did a search trying to find the average size of servers, but I didn't find any information pertaining to it. Does anyone know?
