Sorry, typo. But right now I'm not a real Marine, just a wannabe Marine. I'm not even a poolee yet for crying out loud.

That novel really interested me so you'll find me back to read it all over again...lolol

I liked this:

have an aunt and uncle that live way out in the middle of nowhere in Montana. They have dial up internet but pretty much only use it for email, and no television, no cell phone, not a whole lot of the stuff that controls everything we do in our busier lives.

Funny my friend and I were talking about the energy hike and what it will mean for those people out of work, Examples. The elderly, the poor, the sick. I said my supplier had asked for an extra 2 quid on top of what I already pay and for a one bed bungalow they know what they can do, so I suggested hibernating. Getting out of bed for only bathroom and meals. With a leci blanket and a tv in my bedroom, food in plentyful supply I am made lolo

So your people have the right idea, conversation is not lost either with no TV to watch. It must be great to be so isolated away from youth etc that you must shop for weeks...fantastic!

Reading the bottom portion I would advise you to join up, Army, Navy etc.

The other problem with that is that I won't be able to just run off and do what ever I want on a whim like I do these days. Example, just last night my dad and I decided that this weekend we are going to canoe the Dismal River this weekend, which is pretty remote and a three day trip if you do the entire thing. In the military you would have to plan ahead well in advance and then learn to deal with it if you had to change plans at the last minute.

It all goes down to how an area is in your memory. Whilst i am trying my best to enjoy this local area i just can't.

Without being too much of a drone, but i've grown up here throughout my life having only ever moved away to live in Edinburgh for a year then off to Oz and new Zealand for about 6 months. School was sort of crap for me for numerous reasons (none that i'd really like to get into) and as a result i don't have many fond memories of this area.

Edinburgh on the other hand i absolutely loved and so far realistically i'm leaning towards moving there again. The thought of taking this opportunity and going elsewhere also appeals alot. It would be great to just go to the other side of the world and start a fresh, Meet new people, start a new career etc etc. The main reason i went to oz was for this very reason. I just knew that when i do settle down (which i'd like to do soon) i probably won't get this opportunity again until i retire as i'll probably get married and start a family, i might also have a home and a good successful career that i wouldn't be keen on leaving.

People say to me that i'm still young at 22 years old to do all the things i'd like to do, yet because i've now been out of school for 5 years i feel pretty old. To be honest, i don't see myself any further on in life than those who are leaving school right now which is kinda stressing me out a little bit.

Whatever will be will be.

I am well aware of that but it is a respect issue with me considering I served as a Marine for 9 years. kc0tma isn't the first I have corrected on this forum for the same thing. I guess you can say it is a pet peeve of mine.

grinch even corrected me once because I typed Corpse instead of Corp(s) by total accident.

Is there an "s" on the end of Corp(s)?

yes there is - Marine Corps.

my ideal job would be something like diplomacy, where you get posted to different countries for 3-4 year mandates, and then spend 2-3 years at home... then do it all again... I'd love to just keep moving from country to country, i really need a change...

my grandfather was in the diplomacy, as was my father - but that all ended when the old Yugoslavia fell apart (my father's side of the family is Croatian, and we live in Serbia, so when the country fell apart they couldn't be in the ministry of foreign affairs any more because they weren't nationals of Serbia.... sucks) I suppose if the country hadn't fallen apart and my father had had his full mandate in the diplomatic corps (there's that word again :D ) I'd have probably followed in his footsteps.... this way I haven't got the connections I need....

It's not just something you get into.
