I don't much either, but I couldn't cope without BB. I remember when I started at work in september they just had dialup - I hated it. Most websites now are designed with BB in mind and most designers don't care about reducing filesizes. I hate waiting for pages - I think if I had to survive with Dialup I'd turn of pictures.

We have BB at work now :D

I may not survive that first year if it has to be with dialup *puts on grave face. Not just for the slowness, for the cost as well. Do you know how much they scam students for internet!? Uni network connection=free surfing :D

Hopefully second year = student house = shared 2MBps Broadband. Yay Yay Yay woooooo! *does a merry jig and falls over

Good Lawd Almighty!!!!! No Broadband!!! I would suffer from a massive stroke. LOL  4 months ago, i was changing providers, and in my area the phone lines are old as sin. Anyway, I had to use a dialup via AOL for 2 weeks, I got so frustrated and pissed off and....and......geez. LOL I had never used anything below Cable Broadband, and for me it was like being tranported in time to Great Grandpas Farm, where they had candles for light, horses for tranportation, and marbles made of pebbles for entertainment.

The network internet, at faster than broadband speed, is free. If you get lumbered with dialup they charge you monthly line rental plus 5p/min off peak.

One hour a night = £25/week, which is over a third of my studet loan gone on freaking internet lol.

Now we have a different slant on this problem of yours..i sympathise with you students lol i don't think its right the way they come out of their time up to their eyeballs in debt, this was even before the net, now its even worse at the price you quote rtm.
mum, dad, do they help out with your netting bills rtm..?
You may have to do what i used to do..can't see it some how lolol thats surf only on frid midnight till sunday midnight, twiddle thumbs in between...
I used to have aol, £4.75 a month, 15 hrs a month sufing, then went to ntl dialup, then ntl b/band £18.00 a month 24/7...i had digi tv, but gave that up due to bills too high...in favor of keeping b/band !

Yup. It sucks being a student. I get my maximum loan I am entitled to and a £1000 scholorship in the first year 8) and that doesn't even cover accomodation and tuition fees. I gots some savings from this year, but It's freelance web design for me next 4 years....

I believe you rtm,
we hear it all the time, some say them b*** students rallying again, but i look at it this way, the students one day will be the back bone of this country, US or UK...we should..the government help them more.
Fine, the student will have the means to climb out of the debts incurred, but the interest alone will take years to pay off.
No, i don't like the young to start off in life this way.
Am tootin for ya rtm.

I would most likely go into convulsions before I died. I used to do fien with 56K, but then I got attacked by the Cable bug, and got hooked. I love my cable so much, mainly because I'm in an area where not too many people have it yet, so Ive got a really good speed. WOOT!

Only just got BB a couple of weeks ago.... just can't get used to the fact when i click on a site i don't have time to go and do other things for 3 days while i wait for a page of simple text to come up on screen

To be honest... i can never tear myself away now to go to the toilet

true true...

My world without B/Band would be very painful indeed. I wouldn't be able to leave my computer on overnight to download Monty Python sketches

Fortunately, when I got b/band just over a year ago i invested on a bucket so i wouldn't have the same dilemia that Andylee_2000 has. :D

enuf of my ramblings...

lol. A bucket. Now theres a technical thinker. I know a guy who produces a reclining desk. You sit in it, and lock yourself in, and then you tilt the ENTIRE desk back. Everything is secured down by magnets/straps. I need one............ :)
