I was just typing random phrases into my address bar and came across whereitsat.com. It's a neat little site, basically a big map with special locations relevant to Pop Culture marked that you can click on and learn a little more about.

For instance I knew the pool house from the movie "Cocoon" was in St. Pete because I lived in that area long enough to get tired of having people tell me about it. I didn't however, know the neighborhood Edward Scissorhands lived in was just an hour or two north of me in Lutz, or that the Rolling Stones "Satisfaction" hotel was right down the street from me here in Clearwater on Ft. Harrison.

Anyone else have cool stuff in their area they didn't know about ? :D

Absolutely nothing in my area :(

But it was amusing poking around near Philadelphia and finding out that the hospital building pictured on the show House isn't actually a hospital at all :)

George Harrison was the Lead guitar in a band called the The Beatles.

Only thing i can think of in my area of Scotland is the filming of the movie Trainspotting was done not too far from where i live.

The nearest to me is Wallace, ID, which is where the movie Dantes Peak was filmed (volcanoe thriller, late 90s, Pierce Brosnan). I've been there a couple times because there is a neat bicycle trail near there. Wallace has a really interesting past with the silver mines, it was pretty much lawless and full of drunks. So much so in fact that when the modern interstate highway system was built, they literally built a bridge over the top of the town so that passerby's wouldn't be tempted to stop there and get into trouble.

Also in Great Falls MT there is a bridge that was an important part of the movie Untouchables, but I've never seen that movie so I don't know anything about that.

Along with Adventure Land and Dawn of the Dead. I'm putting the three together and coming up with Shawn of the Dead, and Zombie Land. lol

It looks like Bigwebmaster has the hotel from The Shining a couple of hours south of him.

I thought The Shining was filmed in Estes Park in Colorado?

Any zombie movie is a good zombie movie. The original 1978 version of Dawn of the Dead is the greatest ever. Period.

I see, I guess there was a mini series remake of the original Shining movie that was filmed in Estes Park.

Kubrick's version, with Jack Nicholson, was far and away the superior one. Sorry, Mr. King. :P

I'm also a fan of almost all zombie movies, too. :)

That would be really cool if the vampires from twilight killed Hannah Montana and all the high school musical doofuses and then the zombie killer guy from Zombieland killed the vampires.
