We have alot of different laws up here. It wouldn't surprise me if this was one that never changed, but in saying this we introduced the Smoking ban in public places a year before it was introduced in England, so i'd be surprised if the age of smoking didn't go up at the same time.

Money. Why should they want to outlaw a cash cow? They're raking in far too much revenue from increased taxes.

We ARE talking about a government (esp. CONGRESS) that thinks increased deficit spending can fix an ailing economy, after all.

it was 16 here in SA and recently (last year) it moved up to 18, but law enforcement here isn't very tight so 16yo people can still get away with buying smokes ... I have been smoking for four years roughly btw ...
Let's leave all our *plum* where it is and go live in the jungle ...

I just got back from Las Vegas last night and it was great:

Walk through the hotel's, lite one up.
Walk through the casino's, lite one up.
Walk down the street, lite one up (and drink yoru beverage of choice).

It's once again, people trying to push themselves into your life.

That's true, the less people smoke, the less monety they get from the taxes, the more they tax everybody!

Just read some of the news today, selling cigarette's under the counters of shops.

In the hope that its less noticable to the public, Hopefully reducing the amount of people that smoke.

I am intrested to see what happens.

Of course it is. You are stealing from the government by not paying any tax on the items they choose to tax.
