2 women lie about being raped. ( UPDATED > COURT OUTCOME)

I was reading the paper in my local area and came across This!

I was shocked that someone could be as evil and stupid to make up lies of this nature. Not only was this a complete waste of police time and pure attention seeking. Dont you think it would make people who have been raped less confident to speak to the police.

No fines or punishment have been given to these two women. What do you think about this?

It's like trying to explain why you shouldn't grab a hot pot handle. I could tell you that it hurts, but untill you've grabbed it yourself you really don't know what I'm talking about.

By just telling you that you have alot to learn, hopefully you decide to use caution with the subject from now on.

I think that joebert was commenting on the stupidity of people and their behavior, not in regards to what you've said.

It's pretty much how I saw it when I saw this thread. I was just thinking to myself 'yeah this is pretty ridiculous, but it doesn't surprise me in the least'

That is a sticky subject. I personally think they ought to be fined for making their false allegations. Make the amount of the fines equal to the police man-hours they wasted.

I don't see why this would make other women hesitate to come forward with real allegations. Why let a couple of crazy lying hobags keep you from getting the help you need and/or getting the scumbags who victimized you off the streets?

BTW, penguin, it looks like one of them was ordered to pay a little something in costs. Not sure what it covered.

Absolutely. It's a crime (fraud at the very least, don't you think?), and ought to be prosecuted.
